How to Draw Faces in Simple Steps

Got it as a gift for some one they love it

The problem I had with this is there is not a word of text. Pages of portraits from the most elemental egg shape and placement lines to finished colored portrait. not much help with proportions, planes, or shading except looking at a work in progress.

I really like the book and how the author uses color changes as you move through the drawing process, but I don't think this is a good book for beginners. I will shelf it until I am better.
