Don't let the negative reviews fool you...
Purchased this set through amazon recently. To be honest I was skeptical at first due to some reviews. After using them myself for a couple weeks I could not be happier. These cameras were extremely easy to set up. Turned them all on near the router and downloaded the app. Within 10 minutes they were all connected to my wifi. --Install-- The longest part was figuring out where to install. Installing them is easy, just make sure you got decent wifi signal and plug it in. Yes, like other reviewers stated the power cord is not very long. Maybe ~10ft or so. This makes it so you will probably need to use some sort of extension cords. But nonetheless as long as you expect it, it should not be a surprise. **Update 12-18** As mentioned the cord is short so you need to plug it in close to power source. I found I very simple fix for this. if you search Micro usb Male to Female Extender Cord. Any cord with that setup will extend the length of your cord, I bought a 16.5ft one for around $10. easy peasy. --APP-- Alot of reviewers complained about the application for zmodo. I found the app to be very easy to use with a lot of different settings and options for the camera. Maybe the app was recently updated, I am not sure. But my experiecnce with the app so far is great. I occasionally notice minor bugs in which i notfify support right there on the app. It is nice someone is always there to answer questions. --Motion-- Again, I was worried about buying these because people complained about motion detection, which is most important feature. If you follow the instructions for install there will be no issues with motion. I have tested my setup multiple times and the motion is always working. Hell, it even sometimes goes of if tree branches blowing around in the wind. One of the top reviewers stated "i feel less safe". I have no idea how that is even possible. The motion works if set up properly. Even if some chance it misses a motion the fact you have cameras is a huge crime deterrent. Plus if you are worried about motion alerts you can always buy the cloud which has now been released for 24/7 recording. I feel the cloud is over priced for my budget at around $7 a month per camera I believe, but hopefully that cost will go down. I initially did have an issue where I was not getting motion alerts but I found it was user error. In the app you can click to say if you are home, away, sleeping, etc. Each of those options has specific alert settings. My "home" setting was default to not give motion alerts. This is easy to change but if you are not aware it may confuse you. Overall I am very pleased with this system. You can definitely not find a better system for the price. With the new cloud feature, you can't go wrong. I have no issues with motion where my cameras are installed and the setup and install was a breeze. I did not post pictures/video for privacy concerns. Any questions feel free to ask! **UPDATE**7-8-18 I have had these cameras for almost a year now. They are still going great and everything stated above is accurate. In the past year, I have caught on video a hit and run accident which occurred outside my house on the street. I was also able to assist police in getting video footage of a possible suspect in a burglary which occurred at my neighbor's house. The motion alerts are still going as expected and I am pleased with them. I do wish the motion alerts recorded longer than the 8sec or so. The app is still working perfectly for me with no issues and seems to be getting updates very regularly. ***Update 11-23-18*** I recently had a bike stolen out of my garage. My camera I have set up back there caught them on video running from my garage with the bike. I also found them up front scoping out my house (they apparenty did not do very good if they did not see the cameras). The bike was only around $100 value to me but I posted the video on facebook and someone was able to identify the suspects from watching the zmodo video. It was super easy to download video to my phone and post on facebook. I was in contact with police and am happy to say the suspects are caught and my bike was returned all in less than a week thanks mainly to zmodo. Now that being said I did miss some important motion alerts fro the incident but got what I neded. I am highly considering getting the 24/7 cloud recording. I have not had a major issue with motion alerst but I know it does not get everything. I am hoping to purchase a 5th camera for the holidays to get even more protection.

I really impressed for the price per value ratio and recommend these cameras for anybody who wants a cheap and simple solution.
I bought Zmodo 720p HD Outdoor Home Wireless Security 2 Cameras about three weeks ago. First few days I've spent to login these cameras to my home network. That was not straightforward. First I've tried to link them through zlink as was recommended in some reviews. Cameras were working for some time than went offline. Have no idea why. I have tried Livechats. They were quite responsive and suggested several ways. But the cameras still worked unstable. I was rather disappointed for I like these cameras. They give quite good picture at day light and very satisfactory picture at night. Actually I was quite impressed for the quite good night picture from such a cheap devise. So, I did not want to return them back and continued my efforts. Finally, I have linked them as wireless devices. They both logged in as a group. I gave them different names and over more than a week test at different linked devices. The primary device is my cellphone. They work well on my computers - home and at work. So I can see a clear picture from both of them at any time. I have sheared them with my wife and daughter - they also do not complain. Moreover, wife follows all motion detections and informs me when I did not have time to notice this myself. Overall conclusion: 1. It looks like they are sensitive to the local network features. One should try different ways to connect them. 2. If the power was interrupted, they came back online on their own. 3. The picture is quite good both at daylight and at night. 4. I have found that the time I've spent to set up them worse to have the result: for $90 I have my backyard viewed at any time. I am going to buy two more to cover the whole area I want to be controlled. It really gives you peace in mind when you are out - you see what is going on at your backyard. 5. The only one "complain" - when motion is detected the recorded time is too short, only five frames. Then motion is not detected over some time after (so far I did not found how long). ZMODO, in principle, suggests a solution for this through they clouds. I'm thinking to try this - one week is free. I really impressed for the price per value ratio and recommend these cameras for anybody who wants a cheap and simple solution. My friend subscribes with a surveillance contract and pay $40 per month. My two cameras cost me $90 and I have practically the same result without monthly payment. As I understand I can use up to 8 cameras in such a simple way.

Learning after 1 year of use and NEW setup instructions (8/2020)
I have been using these ZMODO Cameras for about a year and have learned a few things about them. I recently bought 4 new cameras and experienced some of what other reviewers complained about with difficulty setting them up - as I have this down to a science I will write the process that worked for me at the end of this review. Functionality: These cameras provide a decent but somewhat grainy image as far away as 150 feet when mounted high on a an outdoor pole. They are stable - in a full year never needing to be rebooted or repaired in any way. The picture quality is good - and the refresh speed is not bad at all. This camera is also a fairly low bandwidth device with good compression. They motion detection is fairly sensitive but not discriminating - broad changes in lighting (IE the sun went behind a tree) will cause them to send you a real time alert. Sometimes minor changes are so hard to see I have to watch the clip replay several times to see what the motion detection was even triggered by. If you compare this to Amazons cloud cam "Person Detected" feature - it is really lacking. The night vision is awful. It does illuminate out to maybe 30 or 40 feet but you really cannot distinguish anything unless it is right in front of the camera. You DO have to pay for the Zmodo service to store data in the cloud. If you have one of their DVR solutions you can connect this camera to it but I have not tried removing the cloud based subscription. To set these cameras up you they used to have an 802.11 share with the ZLINK process - none of that applies anymore. They no longer have QE codes and you DO NOT use the MESHARE application no matter what you read online. To set these cameras up - Start by plugging in the camera and making sure it is flashing green 1. Download the ZMODO app from the app store (NOT the MESHRE APP) 2. Launch the App and Click the + button in the upper right (not clearly a button but it is there) 3. Choose the right 802.11 network and supply your password 4. The app should generate a QR code on the screen of your phone (if the app instead opens your camera and is LOOKING for a QR code - try updating your zmodo application or rebooting your phone, once this took me 4 tries its a bug I believe) 5. When you phone is displaying the QR code hold the ZMODO security camera up so that the security camera can read the QR code on your phone - (put the phone down on something so it is still) and move the camera closer and father away adjusting the angle and tilt until the camera scans the app. If the app shows a QR code but it will not scan on the camera try making sure your screen brightness is maxed out on your phone - remove other ambient lighting hold the camera very still and very slowly pan it in and out. (this eventually worked for all 4 cameras) 6. At that point the cameras light will turn from green to blue and you should be good to go forward with the free trial. Overall these are fairly decent cameras, the cameras are very reasonably priced but the Cloud service is fairly expensive and these cameras make no sense without it. I gave them 4 stars for value and stability. Do your research before buying and make sure this solution is right for you.

If you’re looking for cheap that’s literally all you’re getting
**long review ahead to break it all down** These cameras seem great at first. They’re cheap and ok quality. Easy set up and installation. The picture quality is decent and motion detection is extremely sensitive. (Sometimes other times it won’t record anything)Night vision is ok. But for what you pay for them it’s to be expected. I never went into this thinking I was getting the highest quality. What I did not expect is the absolute robbery of their “cloud” subscription. I should’ve researched more and kept looking for a different camera. First you’re roped in with the free trail. Take in mind these cameras are strictly WiFi with no internal storage or ability to connect to anything but through the app and cloud. They lag & app crashes ALOT. The motion detection will pick up a bug butt flying by but other times won’t get an entire car pulling up or person at my door. W/o cloud it’s supposed to record 15 second increments of motion. It’s on average 4-12 seconds. The cloud subscription is expensive when you think this is just for my camera to be a camera and record. The lowest one is $50 a year for EACH device. That is $350 for me roughly $30 a month just to have the cameras almost work at full capacity. Like I said that’s Zmodo’s cheapest cloud package. I could get an actual home security system that continually monitors my home and notifies the police if there ever is a problem for a few dollars more than that a month. If you want something for show or just something to be able to LOOK at your home, this is it. I will say the live view is handy. But definitely don’t count on these cameras to matter when you really need them. I’ve had them for almost a year and odds are they won’t catch anything. Unless you pay a ridiculous amount just to be able to see after it already happens. If you also maybe want a baby monitor this would be great! But do not get these as a cheaper home monitoring option. It’s not. You could spend a little more money and get something far better. I was never expecting great but having to pay $350 a year just to be able to record is ridiculous. I didn’t research enough and didn’t want to spend the extra $$ & time installing wired cameras. Or spend the extra $$ on something like adt. Lol I would’ve been better off doing so because their monthly subscription is maybe $5-10 more (with way more options and security) than what Zmodo charges just to do what cameras do... record.

Excellent value for money and very easy to install
I am very satisfied with this wireless security camera from Zmodo. The installation was extremely simple and the connection to the Wi-Fi network of my house was made without problems through the application. The image quality is very sharp both day and night thanks to its good night vision. Movement alerts arrive immediately on the cell phone, which gives me a lot of peace of mind when I'm not at home. In addition, the materials feel weatherproof. It fulfills its function perfectly without having to spend a fortune. Totally recommended!

terrible product and poor service.and lies...lies.
I am going to change my initial review. I do not as a rule do bad reviews or good ones but I will upgrade my first review which was pretty bad. Here goes...bought two of these cameras initially was very pleased. Purchased two more and was sent two free mini wifi cameras. Used them in a back room and cats room. Yeah I know???For six months things were great,,,then I stopped getting video and was only getting stills. The stills were in four frames in about three seconds,,very jerky. Called Zmoda and asked why stopped getting video..their reply was....these cameras are not capable of getting video...I replied but I was getting video...they said oh no..impossible.Second I asked how could I get video back..their answer buy better cameras. Then they said sometime in the future they MAY provide video for these cameras when they upgraded their software. So I was stuck with the six cameras that produced only stills, no video. Rock on about 7-8 months later,,(last week),,they suggested I upgrade to a newer version of Zmodo..So I did. During the upgrade it dropped all my cameras. So I thought I would simply reinstall them,,sorta a pain but doable. Noticed my phone or computer could not link up with my 6 cameras. Called Zmodo...ready......they said I would have to upgrade to a better camera. I said you have got to be kidding. They did not laugh. So for two days I played around the cameras, got off that damn Chrome broswer, will allow software to use Java Script. Use anything but Chrome. You have to open your router to allow their link "ZAP" to open, locate the cameras and link them up. This time no ZAP link. I located my cameras on my phone and had to link each one up individually. Again, was a pain but I did it. Now there is a feature where you can share your camera link with the cameras which is actually pretty cool. This changed also. Before my wife was able to view the cameras has an invited guest of mine. So now we have to link her Iphone up...I have a Droid. She had to down load the newest version also. Now...I finally got all my cameras back on line and on my laptop. Your laptop is where you set the sharing up. I sent each camera to her, the link will show my email address and she will use my password to open the link. when she does this, I send all the cameras to her one at a time, they then show up on her phone on the new app she down loaded. It took me almost two days to get this figured out,, I am not a tech wizard nor am I a very dumb guy..just common sense. So my review will be this...After all this,,,,the product is a good product,,,I can now get video and and picture is better than before. So, now on the cameras I was told could get video and i never received in the first place,, not are producing great video. Their support people I talked to seem to have an answer from a book not from actual trouble shooting experience. I now have all six working and will give these cameras a much rating than before. It has been frustrating dealing with Zmodo at times,,but the product is pretty good. I will probably purchase again and continue use this product. From a business point of view I knew purchasing upgraded cameras that I just purchased to get the video I paid for in the beginning just did not make business sense. I got them all working. Good luck to you...

It is a $50 camera after all.
For a camera with a cost of $50, they are good. Several issues with my order. First, two of the four did not work, but technical support on the phone was EXCELLENT!! Tech assistance on the phone quickly created an RMA and sent a prepaid return shipping label. Down side is, "RMA" was to troubleshoot the two defective cameras with possible replacement. They could have saved us all time and sent me two new ones with the understanding of additional billing if the problem was on my side. Downside, shipping is via ground both ways with me in Oregon and them in Illinois. So, minimum of 8-10 day turn around without any bench time regarding repair. Poor business model now days. Again, it is a $50 camera and at least they are stepping up to the plate for repair/replacement inside the USA. Don't bother with the online technical assistance, I waited over one hour for a "chat" and never did hear back other that a return email that came three days later in English that was equal to a second grader message. Very poor and very obviously not from the USA. Yes, yes, I understand that the cameras come from China or wherever, so, I highly recommend the telephone tech assistance which is 8-8 M-F CST. The application for smart phone and the web site viewers could really stand a update. REALLY!! Apps that I have used before for IP cameras, IP Viewer by Robert Chow, should be the template for a real viewer via smart phone. Again, these are $50 IP cameras and expectations may need tempering. Yes, the cameras can be viewed in 720p and the quality is good. The cameras can be programmed to send email messages indicating motion in their view area and the email contains several screen shot images of about 2-3 seconds of elapsed time. Although, the field of view can not be set up for areas to be ignored and areas to be watched and viewed area has no sensitivity adjustment. So, be prepared for lots of emails of leaves blowing in the wind. After all, the technology of "motion detection" in CCTV is pix change not real presence of a human presence. Again, these are $50 cameras. When the app or web based viewers are used, the cameras do not come up in a view function for a specific camera. You must click on an image that was saved from the first time, or possibly the last time, the camera was powered up and then the real time view is active. The smart phone app comes up in a Low Def version and it must be switched to High Def for a quality view. Not selectable or changable in the VERY limited programming via phone app or online app/viewer. Again, a $50 camera coupled with an app/viewer with an equal value interface. I gave this a "3 star" rating due to the frustration in dealing with a 50% order success. If I were asked, I would give the telephone tech support 6 stars as she REALLY new what she was doing and was not just going through a list of troubleshooting steps for a dummy. If and when I get the other 50% I certainly will repost to this review. We shall see. 1/27/16 - Cameras are back from repair by the distributor and they work perfectly, or at least like they should. No cost for return shipping or repair. I highly recommend the product and the supplier. I CHANGE MY RATING TO FIVE STARS. THANK YOU!!

One Word.....AWESOME!!!
For what these do I have to say these Zmodo cameras are awesome in my book. They don't have audio which is a bummer but then again...my primary purpose was mainly being able to monitor our property. To that end...these cameras are a solid product with very good imagery...whether you're looking at the imagery while in Infrared mode or during the day. Day time imagery is better of course but the Infrared is darn good and you can still see well enough if someone or something is around you're property. The wireless works very well...although I might suggest adding a WiFi extender to your home network if you need to install one of these in a location which is at the outer limits of your wireless network. That's what I did...and between the main router in our office space and the extender I was able to install several of these around our home and they all work seamlessly. We also purchased an indoor monitor camera (seen in first picture attached) and a NVR (Network Video Recorder - not pictured) which allows all the Zmodo cameras to wirelessly connect to the NVR. The NVR is connected to a TV which also serves as my computer monitor and is hooked up directly to the router. This allows all cameras to auto-record onto the NVR's internal hard drive should we need to review footage...and I can easily go from the input on the TV in which the NVR is using and the input my computer uses. Not only that but you can view your camera feeds through the Zmodo website directly via your Zmodo account or the Zmodo app which works really well. There's few things I wish Zmodo would do such as allowing audio from their two-way cameras to be recorded along with the video onto the NVR but currently only video is recorded. So...all that said...I still give these cameras 5 stars because all of mine work well and have exceeded my expectations. Zmodo has many options available and is constantly growing and adding new features. And...best of all...these are priced very well compared to others I've seen. You get a lot for a little dough. If you're in the market for some security cameras but want something easy to install and use...I highly recommend giving these a try. With these around our home I feel so much better knowing at a flip of my finger I can check a camera...whether I'm in my home...at night...or away from the house. I can keep an eye on things. I rather be prepared in the event something happens...but at the same time having these around our home can also help deter those who might have mischievous intentions. Try these out...you wont regret it!!!

They just work
Yes the Cloud Subscription costs a little bit but it's well worth it and the free service may be fine for some. Quality level is great and image is sharp. Notifications and playback is simple with Iphone App. Night vision is fine within a reasonable range. The user interface continues to get better especially across camera groups, which can span locations, ease of setup and consistency keep me coming back to buy more. I pair these with WIFI plugs to turn off (positively off) when not needed. The Alexa integration with FireTV is a nice feature "Alexa show me Cottage Driveway".
