Drawing and Sketching Pencil Set In Zippered Carrying Case

I'll be honest - I mostly bought this for the organizer, and that alone exceeded my expectations for the price. I wanted something I could take on the go without taking up much space in my bag. This is a nice, affordable, concise set, and it holds everything in place properly with absolutely no mess. Additionally, there is a strap inside the case that allows the set to be put over the wrist or fastened inside a bag. Everything in the set I have seems to be sewn down properly. The elastic bands have decent springback and a good grip, so I foresee it lasting quite a while. The case itself wipes clean from minor icks with just a little water. All of the items in the set fit where they should with no hassle. The only downside to this purchase is that the sketchbook is 12 pages long. It's 12 pages of pretty good paper, but still 12 pages. Really though, any 5x7 sketchpad will do. You could probably go a little longer, but not too much, because the pencil sharpener and eraser should have a place above the sketchbook to close properly. You shouldn't try to go wider than 5. At 5, the book of 30 pages I have now -just- fits. Edit 04/01/2017 - The sketch book I recommended above does have rough paper. It's best for drawing PRACTICE and not detail work. I'm currently looking for a smoother supplementary pad. I'll update when I find one.

Nice, easily portable kit designed to take with you on a daily basis. Good selection of pencils from hard to soft, an eraser, and a sharpener. It comes with a small pad of drawing paper. I did replace it with a sketchpad that had more sheets and a little better quality. Overall, this is a good kit to carry around for quick sketches and I'm happy I got it.

Nice sized travel drawing set. Great pencils and necessary eraser and sharpener, but the notepad is too small. I had to purchase two separate pads to really accommodate my kids. This pad only has 12 sheets and they can rip off easily. I prefer the spiral pads I purchased separately.

I thought this was a great deal for what you get! You can take this with a grain of salt, since I am not an "artist" (yet!), but rather an absolute beginner at sketching. So with that full disclosure...I love this kit! It is very travel-friendly and fits nicely in my shoulder bag purse or backpack. Everything is kept perfectly organized (and of course I am very picky about keeping the pencils in order from hardest to softest), so I can find what I want easily. The pencils seem to be good quality, though again I'm not an expert. The eraser is good. I like my Staedtler pencil sharpener better than the one that came with the set, but the sharpener is functional and OK. Not enough to knock a star off of my review, in my opinion. The sketchbook is small and I definitely recommend buying your own sketchbook separately which was what I did (mine is from Strathmore and I keep it in a separate case which I also tuck into my purse). Still, for the price, this is a great set and gave me everything I needed to get started!

The pencils are really good quality. The small sketch pad is a nice little way to keep your swatches too, I don't normally draw on such a small canvas but it's a nice change of pace. The eraser however is nothing to write home about but it does its job. It's not a clean erase so I'd recommend it for erasing light strokes. I have yet to use the pencil sharpener but the body is plastic and only the two blades and screws are metal, it doesn't look very secure either but the slot can be swapped out for something else easily.

I usually buy the other set of these pencils that come in the plastic case, But due to my current living arrangement I keep having my pencils get broken or lost So I wanted a case to put them in. The pencils are good quality, I wouldn't say there amazing but for the art I do I find they work well. The pad is nice but a bit frustrating to keep it open. The pencil sharpener is pretty cheap though, It's just plastic. I'm actually giving mine to my mother for her makeup pencils. Usually Royal and Langnickel give you a metal one. I'm overall happy, The case is great and feels like it could get stepped on or beaten around a bit without your pencils breaking. Plus it's thin enough that I could put it in a bag or just carry it with me. Overall, Happy!

Quite a nifty case and rather well-made. Didn't see it described earlier but it's made of a black canvas material (probably polyester) over something stiff like cardboard and lined with nylon. The outside edges are bound, the zipper seems sturdy, and the stitching looks sound so it should last for quite a while. Also, there's a 6" loop strap sewn inside. The two elastic bands (top and bottom) do make removing the pencils a bit tricky; I prefer just one band. There is room for a couple of more pencils besides the 12 provided. Wish it were thicker and wider to accommodate a larger sketch pad; 5" x 7" top bound pads can be difficult to find. All in all, very good value.

This appears to be a very good product, but it has a few drawbacks and it doesn't really fit my needs. For one thing, the case is much larger than I had expected. It could easily be over 2 inches shorter without the added length to accommodate the sharpener and eraser. Also, the spine of the case is very stiff and folding the open case in half might compromise the stiff spine. These two issues make this case much more cumbersome than similar products that I own. The pencils seem fine, but I did not really need another pencil set. I already have mechanical pencils and drawing pens with which I had intended to fill the case. The sketch pad is 5" x 7" which is adequate and quite portable, but has only 12 sheets of paper! This is disappointing, since the case is quite roomy and could easily hold a thick sketchpad. It is easy to fit many drawing tools inside the case, but there are no pouches or straps to accommodate them. I doubt this product will get much use from me. It looked good in the ad but for my purposes it is very disappointing. Royal & Langnickel offer other zippered sets that omit the eraser and sharpener and provide more portability. Unless you really need the pencils, sharpener and eraser (I don"t) I would recommend you check out these and other alternatives.
