Astro Pneumatic Tool 1450 13" Plusnut and Extra-Long Rivet Nut Setter Kit Metric & SAE

This is my 2nd pneumatic rivnut setter and is the best I've had so far. The quality of the steel appears to be adequate to the job as I've installed a few of the biggest rivnuts I have, 3/8 x 18tpi into 1/4" hard steel and it went well - the nut under high enough pressure that the stainless screw torqued to 45 ft.lbs. and held nicely. Early days yet but I'd recommend at this poi nt and the price is well within the range of other online and retail vendors.

This thing is very robust and reliable. It is far stronger than it needs to be and you have to be aware that you could pull the plus nut threads right out of the hole if you're not careful. The only knock is that on a single pull you are unlikely to draw the nut completely up, and will have to make a second partial pull. Very small gripe.

I'm installing mostly #10 and 1/4" rivnuts in fiberglass of varying thickness (thin to 0.2"). I suffered using a smaller, cheaper tool that didn't have the leverage that this does so I was using other tools to create better leverage. Once I got the 1450 it was a world of difference. I actually have to be careful now how much pressure I use as you can deform the rivnut. Size is easily changed. Very pleased, should have bought it sooner.

Customer service leaves much to be desired. Issues with every other install. Do yourself a favor and spend a little more money to buy a professional one. Customer service was useless.

Have yet to use it but looks easy enough to operate.
