Motorcraft Accessory Drive Belt Tensioner - BT-70

I Absolutely love Amazon at times like this. I discovered that my old tensioner had failed, the pulley had blown out the bearings. I had planned to leave for a long trip the next day, bummer! I Found out that no one had this part in stock, including the dealer, and the dealer wanted $210 for the exact same part, three times the price here. Amazon got the same exact factory part the next day, and this is a super easy, two bolts and your done repair job. Just one 10mm open end wrench is all you need, and nothing else needs to be removed, although I pulled the alternator just because it was easy. Had it swapped out in just a few minutes and am ready to go another 300k miles.

I must have got an inferior one...package had clearly been opened. Upon install (10mm bolts all torqued (18 Foot lbs), belt on, and shroud back on) I do what we do on all these - Pull on the belt and the tensioner spring releases the metal tang and the belt tightens. NOT so much on this one. Tried multiple times with no luck. Pulled everything back off. Inspected the tensioner tang and it had been installed (or should I say JAMMED) into the housing because the metal tang had not been trimmed appropriately--somebody just decided that ensuring it worked correctly would be too much time and effort evidently. After removal it took a bit of work to unseat it. I'm at the point I think I will just return it and get one that was manufactured correctly. This lack of quality control for expensive OEM parts drives me nuts AND not to mention the DOWN TIME!!! I'm paying a premium for these OEM parts so I expect superior quality, superior form fit and function and superior components. To say I'm disappointed is an understatement. This will be packaged up and returned. I'll let you know the results. Unbelievable!! UPDATE: Wow! I returned the original to Amazon (via the return web link) and they no kidding had a new one on my doorstep two days later. I installed the new one and it worked as designed. I have to revise this to FIVE STARS--part worked as advertised and Amazon's customer service was just Fantastic!!

So far so good. Seems like it's Original Ford Motorcraft equipment. But I usually don't rate stuff until products I purchase stand the test of time and wear. That bench mark is usually at 20+K miles of work under the hood of my 06 F250 6.0 Powerstroke.

100% Ford genuine part. It'll fix your belt squeal you've been chasing. Remove your top fan shroud that just clicks in, alternator, top idler pulley, and remove the belt. You'll be able to acess the tensioner without removing anything else. You MUST use a 10mm wrench to remove the 2 bolts that hold the tensioner on. Fish it out and fish the new one back in.

Came in oem part box correct part number fit perfect, just don’t forget to remove the spring clip after you install it so it can put tension of the seeps tone belt.
