Stick with it
This Song Will Save Your Life by Leila Sales was one of my favourite stories that I read last year so I was more than excited for her new novel Tonight the Streets Are Ours. And sure I can admit that the absolutely stunning book cover helped somewhat.Tonight the Streets Are Ours is really multi-faceted. There are so many layers that it is hard to break down to tell you about them but I shall try. It is about a girl called Arden who has a troublesome best friend called Lindsay; Arden lives at home with her father and her brother and just over four weeks earlier her mother abandoned them all; Arden has a boyfriend called Chris who she is growing ever the more unsure about and Arden has a secret obsession with a blog called Tonight the Streets Are Ours by a mysterious writer called Peter. So I have managed to tell you about the book without revealing too much which is good. I guess if I had to describe the theme of the book I would say that consistently running through it is the theme of disappointment and having expectations that are too high. Arden likes to believe that people are inherently good and do good things for the people that they care about but when she realises she is giving more than she is receiving she becomes a bit jaded and angry. If I am honest, I found Arden’s naivety somewhat annoying at times and she did put people either too high on a pedestal or equally too low. She never really concentrated on herself but in essence that is what also made her character and linked her to her mother whose life paralleled Arden’s.Tonight the Streets Are Ours is a really good read and one that has more of an impact than you initially feel. This book is definitely worth a read.Tonight the Streets Are Ours by Leila Sales is available from 24th September 2015.Follow Leila Sales (@LeilaSalesBooks) on Twitter.

A good read. Funny and sweet.
Few grammer errors on e version but other than that I really enjoyed this story. I liked the characters and would recommended to YA lovers.

Not as I expected.
I think this book deserves 3.5 stars but as that's not an option I will be kind and give it 4.I did enjoy the book, it was good. However I was slightly mislead by the blurb. I was under the impression that the book would focus around a road trip to NYC and that's where the majority of the book would take place. However the main part of the story happened in the characters home town. I feel that the trip to New York was a bit rushed and not enough details. However in doing this you as a reader invest your time in the blog that Arden is reading and you do feel a slight sense of disappointment with the character when the blogger isn't exactly who you picture him to be.All in all I did enjoy the book although I was expecting it to be a little different. If you are contemplating buying it just know that the focus isn't really on the road trip and New York as you are lead to believe by the summery.

Tonight the streets are ours...
(Source: I received a digital copy of this book for free on a read-to-review basis. Thanks to Macmillan Children's Books and NetGalley.)“Using all your awesome powers of self-reliance, you can find your own way home.”This story started out quite slow, but it improved towards the end.Arden really did put herself on the line for her best friend Lindsey in this story, and Lindsey seemed perfectly happy to let that happen. I felt quite sorry for Arden in this respect, because while she shouldn’t have put her future on the line for Lindsey, Lindsey really shouldn’t have let her do it! What kind of a best friend is she?!The storyline in this was pretty slow, and then we got a really quite random road trip happening, which was a little bit crazy really. Why Arden got this idea in her head I don’t know, but what she did was actually quite dangerous, going to try and find someone you have never met or spoken to before? She could have ended up dead! The book did improve towards the end though, and I liked how Arden’s ideas about a certain person proved to not be accurate at all, and she also learned something about herself and her relationships. I wouldn’t call this a love story though!7 out of 10

3.5 stars
3.5 starsI received this book from the publisher in exchange for an honest review. This book is a love story, but it's not a straight forward, "I've read it a million times" sort of a love story. The author looks at all sorts of relationships, which is very fresh. The characters in this book, although quite frankly hard to like at times, are incredibly realistic. It was a fantastic read and I'll be coming back to Leila Sales in the future, cudos for beautiful writingI'd definitely recommend this book to readers of all ages

An okay read
*I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. Thanks to Pan Macmillan and NetGalley*2.5 starsArden Huntley is loyal and selfless and is struggling to cope with her mum leaving.Arden finds a blog called Tonight the Streets Are Ours by accident and finds herself drawn to the writer, Peter, who recounts his life - how he works in a bookshop, has a girlfriend called Bianca and how his brother is missing. One day Arden spontaneously decides to go to New York and meet Peter. Is Peter who he says he is?Does Arden know who she really is?After reading and enjoying This Song Will Save Your Life I was excited to read Tonight the Streets Are Ours but I didn't like it as much as I thought I would.Arden was a mixed character for me - at times I liked her and that she looked out for Lindsey, her best friend, but she treated Lindsey like a child and thought that she had to take responsibility for her. For someone who claimed to think about other people, Arden didn't think twice about not wearing the dress that her mum had made her especially for prom and whether that would hurt her feelings or not.Lindsey was an okay character but I didn't like that she let Arden take the blame for her.The plot was okay but I lost interest. The pacing was quite slow but I enjoyed the writing style.Overall this was an okay read.
