What is the total diameter of this item? If it's 2.125" from one edge to the other, it's too small for my purposes.

This is a standard size for bathroom sinks in the US. I measured just the opening of the drain, which is 1 3/8ths

Is the strainer section wire mesh or stainless metal line regular sink strainer?

It is not mesh and water does not drain well through it. Used in bathroom vanity sink and it did not work well for a sink that you would want to drain quickly. It’s like having a clogged sink.

What is the country of origin of this product?

I'm am not sure on origin. Still good product.

Will this strainer stop spaghetti from going down the drain?

I don’t cook spaghetti, but it does stop much smaller debris than that from going down the drain. Water flow will slow if too much spaghetti is in it, so you need to move the debris around to let the water flow through. I like my strainer. It’s also easy to clean.

as advertised, but VERY slow draining

Looks like there are plenty of decent sized holes, but it definitely drains slow. The vendor even states that if it drains slow, then adjust the water pressure. Wouldn't be how I fix it, so I sometimes just lift the edge a smidge, then it drains quickly. This leads me to believe it's a vacuum problem, not a strainer size issue.Regardless, it's a simple design that seem built well enough for the job at a cheap enough price.No regrets, and it's what I needed.
