I thought the balls rotated. How do you keep the balls from sticking to your skin?

I thought they did as well, but I think it actually works better than I expected. The balls don't roll (or rather aren't made to roll--they can be unscrewed) and are made of a rubbery/sticky material. This massager works less like a foam roller and more like someone really pushing on a particular spot. I tend to work on one spot for a bit, then move it up or down a inch every few minutes.

I have a 17" neck and I can use it. The adjustable balls may not hit the part of the muscle you want to treat.I would find one and try it out first.
