Review: Macht was es soll - Ganz gute Schachuhr. Funktioniert ganz gut. Qualitรคt ist ok. Review: Light, easy to use, large display - This is my first chess clock. I bought it because the YouTube video was very carefully done and looked easy. The clock is relatively compact so I can fit it into the same food container as my chess pieces. Weights only 157 grams with battery. It took me a bit of effort to initially map out the different "states" that the clock can be in. Once I did that, I found it very easy to set it up for the typical "rapid" time controls you see on lichess.org and chess.com. I set mine up to use 15+5 but you can easily change any one of the numbers to anything you want. So you don't need per-programed time controls. Once set up you just turn on the power switch for each new game, and push the center button to start the game. You can also pause the game at any time, which I have done a couple of times. It takes a single double A battery, as opposed to some others which take two. It now seems to work OK with a rechargeable battery although initially it seemed to prefer a non- rechargable. Display: Two large liquid crystal numbers that are very easy to see both indoors and outdoors. If the "bonus" is set, as in 15+10 time, you see a tiny word "bonus" on the display, above the final zero. One improvement for new users would be to somehow display the number of bonus seconds in the current mode. However you can quickly verify what the bonus is by starting the clock and toggling back and forth a couple of moves. With a +10 bonus, you will see the remaining time climb above 15 minutes. Eg: 15 08.

Excellent item, especially in light of the price!
I purchased this specifically for chess - if you're wanting to time something else, this may or may not be the right item for you. (I mean, it does say "chess" right on it. :) ) The weight is right in the middle, it should be fine as is. Size is fine, was a little worried it might be smaller that I'd like, but it's big enough. The buttons/levers have a nice feel to them. Some here have been critical of the supplied instructions, but I had no trouble with figuring out how to set the time control for games. The bonus time function works well for me when tested. No data yet on battery life, but it takes 1 AA battery, and I plan to carry a few spares with me. I can't imagine battery life to be unusually short, seeing it's just a timer circuit and a non-illuminated LCD display. Should be durable, unless perhaps dropped onto a hard floor or similar, but the plastic case feels pretty rugged to me. Overall, I think this item is a great chess clock - I haven't played any over-the-board chess with it but I can't really see how this could be significantly improved on without making it quite a bit more expensive (like making it out of metal instead of plastic, for example).
