Great to have a check valve
After reading a few other reviews I decided to check the material type. Screws and spring are all nonmagnetic indicating they are stainless steel. Brass plates are also nonmagnetic, everything looks good. I loosened up the screws until they were just attached then pressed in the rubber sleeve until it was free from friction contact to the brass plates. I then was able to push the unit into the 4" pipe by hand. Then tightened the screws a little bit going across like you tighten lug nuts on a wheel. This is the second check valve like this I used. The first one worked good for 15 years, just decided it was time. My neighbors had backwash problems but I didn't. After removing the original valve I saw turds at the surface of the water... Flushed them down with a hose and was very happy I had a check valve in place.

Does the job!
Great product! Best advice. Inspect periodically as the spring may break. And to make it much easier to remove, make sure the drain wall is as clean and smooth as possible and lube up the rubber seal with anti-seizing lubricant.

This is a very good item. Priced very fairly. Well made.
This is excellent. I replaced one that I had for years but corroded. The key to using these is to put it down into the PVC tube just far enough that the center "pin" sticking up is about 1/4 inch below the level of the floor. This is made well, is a quality item, and is easy to install. I may buy another one so that in 20 years when this one is all nasty, I can replace it easily.

Bad design
Terrible design. As others mentioned, you can barely get it into the pipe because the screws have to be tightened enough so the pieces don’t fall apart. I also had the back valve rubber piece fall off the screw into the drain. Thankfully I was able to suck it out with the shop vac, otherwise I would have had a bigger problem on my hands. I had this installed in previously and it worked saving our basement twice. Only reason why I was switching is because it was corroded but then I remembered I put vinegar down the drain so that’s why. I’m going back to this one as it’s much better designed and the rubber piece has no chance of falling off into the drain. https://a.co/d/0aDouFYl

A+ rating
A+. I deal with basement back ups when the city streets flood. Sump pump is fine, storm sewer is issue a backflow valve in the yard would cost thousands to install. This worked great so far in my basement. Last time I would’ve had an issue it barely let any water seal past the gasket edges. Usually I’d have 2-4” in the basement under these circumstances. I can probably tighten it a little more again, but it was very tight to begin with. Hold it with 1 hand and start screwing the 4 screws in a circle. Once snug you can crank it tight. Lean edges as best as possible. Mine was cast iron so hard to clean. Fit well. Works well. Also best one I’ve seen to allow water to go in, and not clog it up.

This is the tool for the job
Everything else I could find for this size range is simply not performing up to the expected degree. This one does the job and does the job well

Works and price was good
I purchased the 3" version and it fit perfectly. I saw reviews saying they could not control the water going down. There is nothing to adjust really on this. The 4 screws around makes the rubber expand the form a solid seal inside the pipe so that it cannot just be pulled or pushed out. The middle screw should not have to be adjusted. The water goes down with weight. If you have a cup of water it will not go down so press the button and down it goes but if there is a bucket, the weight pushes it down and allows it to drain. Hope this makes sense. For me, it works perfectly and what I needed. I installed one in a garage drain and now will order a second for the laundry room drain. Depending where you are and your situation, you could use these instead of putting a main one where you will have to dig. In my case there are only two small drains in the basement so it makes sense.

Easy to install but
Very easy to install in my 3 inch PVC floor drain but the protruded spring pin is too easy to be bent such that you'd have to install the set way below the floor level, a little harder to fix the screws

Poorly designed....not thought out
Noticed it as soon as it was opened...... the spring is way too rigid and would prevent water from draining properly.....so any water accumulating from your shower (or other drainage issue) would not drain or would take a lot of time to drain, which can be just as hazardous....
