Great gear !

This turned out to be a wonderful snorkeling set. I was hesitant to order it and bring it with us on our trip because the house where we stayed offered free sets on site, but it turned out to be a great purchase. The entire set fit nicely in the mesh bag that was included and didn’t take up too much space. When we arrived and went snorkeling, the gear provided by the property fit poorly and leaked. Everyone had to take turns using the snorkeling sets we brought. The mask fit really well on a number of different adults and teens and even my 9 year old niece. As long as you made sure that all hair was pushed back and didn’t get caught in the seal, the mask didn’t leak. The snorkel was easy to use and didn’t fill with water. The fins were very adjustable and worked for all the adults and teens. We had several amazing experiences while snorkeling and it was nice to focus on the wildlife instead of worrying about adjusting gear.

After a lifetime of swimming with just goggles, it took some getting used to to use a full face mask and snorkel. The face mask covers not only the eyes, but also the nose, so exhaling or inhaling through the nose changes the pressure (and can fog) inside the mask. The snorkel works well, and it's possible to submerge, then resurface and continue breathing through the snorkel without fully coming out of the water and draining it. It helps to blow forcefully out of the snorkel though, to clear any drop that might be inside. I did have a problem with leaks. At first, the mask was not tight enough, and the leaks improved dramatically with a small tightening of the straps. However, there was still a small leak. Closer inspection revealed that the tempered glass can be removed by unclipping the colored retainer from the front of the mask. After removing both pieces of tempered glass, I found that one of them had a small chip missing from one edge. I swapped lenses between sides, so that the chipped edge was facing out and no longer resting on the rubber sealing surface, and the small leak was fixed.

Upset I haven’t had the transportation to make it to the beach yet. But I will because summer ends.

This is a great set for the price, compact enough for travel and comfortable. I will say that the seal on the mask is not the greatest, it is shorter than other masks where the nose piece rests above your upper lip. Water leaks in and it made it very difficult to snorkel and dive comfortably. The actual lenses of the mask are quite nice though, as well as the adjustable head strap. The snorkel is one of the best I’ve used, it doesn’t require a quick breath to expel water when you resurface. Most of the water drains out as soon as you surface and you can breath right away. The fins are compact and we’re perfect for use kayaking. Great starter set for the price and how fast this shipped it was perfect for my day snorkeling and kayaking around shipwrecks in northern Michigan. It came just in time so I could participate in a group outing with my own gear.

Used on a beach trip and they worked well. We would have had to rent otherwise and this was a way better deal.
