Wayne Upgraded ESP25 Backup Pump

This is a dependable, heavy-duty product and Wayne says it is an upgraded version of the old one. Even though my last one lasted 10 years, it rusted badly so I replaced it just to be safe. I bought it again so, yes, I do recommend it.

My plumber recommended this as a replacement for my back-up sump pump. It arrived and was installed and was found to have a broken impeller. Unfortunately, the work was not done until after the 30 day amazon replacement period. After calling Wayne they offered no help other than to claim the wrong part was ordered. My plumber spoke with them and explained the pump would not work due to likely damage from shipping.

I ordered this ESP25N pump 4/3/2025 as a replacement for the original ESP25N pump purchased 3/5/2021. The original ESP25N pump failed after 4 years. In that time it was only required to operate once for about 6 hours while the main pump was replaced. I gave it two stars because it did work the one time it was called upon. As others have stated, the longevity of these pumps is hit or miss(maybe more miss). I disassembled the failed pump and found the electric motor swimming in a couple inches of water inside the pump housing. After cleaning and drying the motor it worked again, but I threw it in the trash anyway. If you own this pump, my suggestion would be to use the test feature on a regular basis. I silicone sealed the hell out of the new ESP25N pump, we’ll see if that helps?

I've been through 2 of these pumps now in 5 years. I test them in the spring to make sure they are working, and they die after about 2-3 years. The backup float switch is junk too. That failed after 5 years. The main sump pump works fine, but the back up is worthless. Find another brand. My crock is brand spanking new too.

This DC pump was hard to locate but as always Amazon had it in stock. I have a triple redundancy sump system and this DC pump was the last piece. This pump replaced my older style Wayne DC pump. All made in China so I expect atleast another five years out of it instead of 15. We’ll see

I used it as part of a 12 V emergency pump system to keep her basement pumped when we lose power. So far it is working properly.
