Does the board require assembly? Amazon asked if I wanted to spend $91 for a professional to assemble it for me. That seemed ridiculous....

No assembly required. Not sure were the Amazon request for assembly came from. Very curious!

Does the book catch get in the way of their writing? Do you need to move the paper over? Is it there to keep the wrists from resting on the board?

Yes, it can be in the way, BUT it's attached by Velcro and so you can take it off and put it at the top of the board. We move ours back and forth all the time depending on the activity. It's nice having the option of having it at the bottom.

Are these easy to travel with? We take a lot of road trips, and I am looking for something my kids can draw on in the car.

This is a perfect board for kids to draw on or to hold a book up for reading. The legs fold up and stay out of the way when not needed. The legs have a coating and rubber at the ends that keeps from getting scratched or cut. The Slant Board also packs flat so you can stow it away easily

The Board measures 12 x 18". When the legs are folded it is about 1 1/2" high. It weighs 1 1/2 Lbs.
