Excellent customer support to back the product
UPDATE:I had originally posted the review below based on two primary concerns I had with the leash. However, I decided to bump it up to 4 stars because of the fabulous service of HappyDogz! Immediately upon learning about my concerns, they reached out with a resolution. The proactive problem-solving nature of the company and the importance they place on customer satisfaction is a rare commodity nowadays. Every product will have a lemon, but the response of the company is what truly makes them excellent. I have confidence that I can buy from them and know that the product will be great quality or they will do everything they can to make it right.***We were hoping for a high-quality leash based on the reviews we saw, but that is unfortunately not what we received. The description says it is "Sturdy, Safe & Secure." While the product as a whole feels sturdy and has an excellent grip on the handle; our primary concern is safety and security for our sweet girl, and this leash does not give us confidence. There are a couple of primary concerns:1) The leash has a durable, flat retractable leash, but it doesn't retract properly. The leash frequently gets caught in the inner mechanism and will not retract, which can be terrifying when your dog is running towards the road and you can't retract and stop the leash. I have oftentimes had to grab the fabric to stop it, which burns my hand.2) The leash gets caught in the wind. Since it is flat and lightweight material, the wind catches it and pulls the leash. If the mechanism isn't locked, the leash will unroll and (per the lack of retractability mentioned above) leave our dog with far more freedom that we may want at that time. The only way to offset this is to have the leash locked and taut at all times, which isn't comfortable for our dog.I will reach out to customer service about their 10-year guarantee and provide an update accordingly. Hopefully our leash is just a lemon, and we can have full confidence in the safety of our furry baby with another one.

Nice leash - recommended
I decided to try a retractable leash so my dog could have more freedom while we were walking. My wife bought a retractable leash from a different company and that one broken in a few weeks but we decided to try this again. I went on Amazon and found this leash. My dog is about 40 lbs (smaller English Springer Spaniel) and I couldn't decide between the small and the medium version so I posted a question. I got several responses within a day and ultimately ordered the medium size. The leash is great. The action is smooth and the button for stopping it and locking it is larger and easy to activate with a gloved thumb which is important in a Minnesota winter. The only improvement I would make is to add a loop somewhere so I can easily hang the dog disposal bags off the body of the leash. I ended up buying a medium S-biner at REI and that's how I attach bags to the leash.Overall its a great product with company that really seems to care about making a quality product. I'd buy it again but I'm sure I won't have to with a 10 yr warranty.

Everything one wants in a retractable leash!
Very pleased with this leash. This is the second time I have purchased this leash the last time was in November 2015! It has provided excellent service all these years. I had a 26 pound Cocker Spaniel who pulled like a 65 pound Golden Retriever. She is was very muscular for a Cocker! Although the leash I purchased is recommended up to 44 pounds it handles Mandy just fine. My only criticism would be the clasp - wish that were just a bit bigger. I find myself fumbling to open the catch. Love the ribbon feature. The button to release or stop the leash is easy to use and very responsive. My other dog, a 23 pound Cocker Spaniel jerked the leash and it's housing out of my hand when I wasn't paying attention and it bounced along the concrete and got slammed into a brick wall. All with no damage. I am now using this leash with a third dog who is very strong and since the original leash was 5 years old I decided to replace it for safety reasons. Great, great product! Would most definitely recommend!

Well made, but grip is too small
The product is great and sturdy, except for one annoying issue. I have a wide hand, and I can't fit my four fingers into the grip.Another issue is that the leash ribbon color should be brighter and reflect light. At dusk last week, a jogger ran into the leash between me and my dog. I can't imagine what'll happen if my dog and I are on a country lane, and then a car drives through. So maybe the small size grip is an untended safety feature. A settable emergency breakaway option (or emergency reserve extension option) would be a great idea, in the case where your dog is tame enough to not likely activate the proposed breakaway/reserve.If such a safety feature has not yet been patented: Permission is hereby freely granted to invent and obtain the patent!

Lasted about 2 months
UPDATE: The company was quick to address the issues I had, and they promptly issued a refund to me, as the product was no longer available for a replacement. Good customer service! I'll bump it up a star for that, but it's still unfortunate that the leash I had broke after only a couple months of normal wear and tear.I loved this leash when it first came and while we used it for a good two months. Now it's broken and won't retract and I ended up getting rope-like burns on my hands when I had to use the line itself to pull my dog away from another dog. Was happy, but the quality doesn't seem the best if it only lasts a couple months. I have a beagle, and had the smaller leash. I'd like to return it with their 10 year money back guarantee, as 2 months isn't even close to 10 years.
