Best Ear Plugs I've Ever Owned - for Firearms, Air Compressors, Power Tools, Sleeping
This is my second case of 200 of these ear plugs that I've bought. I've yet to find ANY other ear plug that cancels out noise as well as these. There is normally no need for anything else when using firearms, even with a .454 Casull revolver, though I usually wear ear muffs over top anyway, because I really value my hearing, but if I'm lazy I just use these ear plugs. They DON'T work for hunting, as you won't be able to hear ANYTHING at all with them in - I use Surefire plugs for hunting because they DO let some sound in. The 3M E.A.R. plugs cancel out noise SO well that you'll immediately notice any tinnitus that you have, as that is ALL you will hear. I wear them sleeping whenever I'm at a hotel, so I don't hear the noise in the hallway or the room next door. Just got a puppy that won't stop barking because it doesn't want to be in a crate at night? Wear these ear plugs to bed!The 3M E.A.R. plugs are very reusable - my last case lasted at 15 - 20 years, and I shared them with my sons. As long as you warm the plugs up first, such as cup them in your hands for a bit, they will keep bouncing back to original shape and size for quite some time. Once the first end stops bouncing back, turn them around and use the other end. Once both ends stop bouncing back, I use them for my wife's cat - I throw them across the room and the cat retrieves them. The cat won't do this with ANY other brand of ear plug, but she LOVES 3M E.A.R. plugs (such that I have to be careful where I put the good ones, as she will hunt them down and take them). All other ear plugs are inferior - if you really care about your hearing, these are the earplugs to use!

These fit my longer ear canal great and the noise attenuation is much better than any other plugs I've tried to this point (I shoot competitively and have use *many* over the years). The plugs squish down for easy insertion (rolled between the finger tips) but expand to seal tightly without any discomfort or excessive pressure. I prefer the longer plugs as anything shorter can mean a difficult time removing the plug if the plug gets inserted too far.

Works well
I use these earplugs primarily for sleeping, as I am a very light sleeper. They work very well at reducing sound. I usually get two uses out of them, as you must compress one end to fit in the ear canal. Once they have been compressed on one end, they don't seal the canal again on that end as well. I turn them over and use the other end in the canal the next night.I also use these underneath other ear protection sometimes at the shooting range, if I am shooting something particularly loud.

Better than custom plugs
I have been using these plugs for a couple of years at an indoor shooting range. When the box of 200 ran out, I tried a pair of custom fit silicone plugs. They did not fit as tightly and even when I was pressing them in by hand they were not as effective at reducing the noise of large caliber firearms as the e-a-r 33. I even had the left ear plug remade and it still was not as effective.YMMV, of course. Custom silicone plugs are smooth, which makes them more comfortable. However, their fit depends on the shape of the ear canal which varies widely from person to person. In my case, the ear canals were shaped to encourage the plugs to slide out slightly which greatly reduced their effectiveness. The e-a-r 33 plugs are not the most comfortable - some people have complained about the rough texture - but I think the texture is what helps them maintain their tight fit. I have worn a number of different ear plugs at various jobs and they are all more comfortable to insert. If you are not in a high noise situation like a firing range or stamping plant, a smooth plug will be more comfortable and may be adequate. But I'm not wearing these things because it feels good, I'm wearing them to protect my hearing from the guys with the .45's, .44's and .357's, which these plugs do better than anything else I've tried.

Great ear plug
I've been using these earplugs for many years. By far the best earplugs I've ever used. I've tried many many. I like the classic of the same brand they're good, probably would be great for a smaller ear hole. but these are better for me than the classic. I have a pretty good size ear hole. So these really work great for me. 5 star

Best I've found so far!
I've got some hearing damage and tinnitus already. I ride motorcycles a lot, and simply cannot ride without earplugs - way too painful!Over the past 5 years, I've spent hundreds of $$ on different earplugs, all with varying effectiveness. Many plugs block sounds just fine, but the "rumble" of wind buffeting still gets through and aggravates my ears. These are the BEST I'VE FOUND so far! I was dubious since they are "firmer" and feel a bit scratchy compared to a lot of the softy plugs I've used in the past. The key to earplugs is to get them inserted properly. Once you do that, these things do the best job on that low, windy rumble. I can still hear traffic, and my helmet communicator just fine. These save me a ton of pain and fatigue while riding motorcycle! Just get some, you'll see!(even if your ears are still fine, start wearing earplugs now. Motorcycle riding does damage to your ears whether you believe it or not. And you don't want hearing damage)
