OK but not great
I'll state upfront that I read this on my laptop using Amazon cloud service and found it to be fairly difficult in that not much could fit on a page and you are constantly paging forward or back and illustrations are often not able to fit on the page that is referencing them. That seemed to make reading this more challenging and some of my difficulties could be a result of that.Other than that, this is a good reference book, although the table of contents is so detailed that it feels like you're ready half the book just to find what you want. There are a lot of topics that are repeated throughout and a few topics that aren't addressed at all.If you're looking to get a general overview of QB, this book works fine. If you're using it to fine-tune your skills or learn more detailed techniques, there's not a lot of depth to this.Overall, a good reference book but not the "be-all-end-all" that I was hoping for.

Truly the Missing manual
This book is like the documentation we used to receive with software years ago. If you could read you never had any need for tech support. Nowadays the software folks live in a code world and never put anything down in writing. I was amazed to discover that it is over 780 pages long! They should show a 3/4 view picture of the book in the listing for it to show how big it is.The book is written in conversational language and so far has anticipated every question I have had. It is very easy to find the proper subject area when looking for help.I would highly recommend it to anyone who is considering purchasing QB. I have attended Quick Books seminars and have learned more from this book than I did at those. To be fair I'm not an accountant, was married to one at the time we attended. Those are geared toward real accountants. This book is for the rest of us.

The book you need for most details of a business
while I have a pretty good background in book keeping and accounting, programmers have a way of confusing anything. The online help in quickbooks, as most of you know, really lacks a lot and isn't for us "book people". I found this book to do the job almost all the time when I need details of how quickbooks treats certain items and a simple How-To on many functions. I have it on the desk next to me all the time so you can actually use this one.a good book and a great reference. Lite reading it isn't.

There is a lot of information in this book, but honestly, the question that I needed answers to were not in this book, I got my answers from the quickbooks community. I am not saying this book was a waste of money because again there is a lot of information it it...it just depends on what you are needing to know. It is nice to know that I have it if I need it

Answered all my questions!
I am horrible at book keeping. Not even sure that's how you spell "book keeping". Is it one word or two? Anyway, there were a number of issues I had with building a starting balance, making distributions to shareholders, depreciating props, that sort of thing. Quickbooks has a q&a section which may answer your questions but it's apparently done by an accounting expert who assumes I have a clue. It's all greek to me. The Missing Manual is huge and I've probably used a total of 20 pages but let me tell you, it's saved me hours of frustration and worth every penny when I'm about to rip my hair out!

Good to have
A good thing to have around, especially since they quit putting a book with the software. The book is still a bit better than the online manual in that you can find things which you may not know exists, or not know what to name it. And, for me, still much faster than being in an online manual.

QuickBooks 2014 is another great and complete work of art from Bonnie Biafore !
This is an awesome book. The one challenge I would like Bonnie to address in her future versions, is how the vendors (e.g. American Express) work in collaboration with QuickBooks. I am still not clear on how to sync the Amex payments (charges are ok ... go that) just not sure how to allocate the charges so they sync ... even AMEC couldn't (didn't) answer my question after a zillion emails / phone calls !Still on a positive note ... great book with lots of great ideas, best practices, and step by step instructions on how to do every aspect of QuickBooks accounting.

I do recommend it.
This book has been very helpful as we learned to use Quickbooks, HOWEVER, it is NOT for Apple iMacs. There are several instructions for doing things that don't happen according to the book on our iMac, so we have to figure it out. It still helps get us on the right track, though, and for the most part, I do recommend it.

Three Stars
Should be supplied with the software.

better than the average training manual
better than the average training manual. Not cheap (none of them are). But illustrations, layouts, use of commentary boxes help keeps you engaged with it.There is a free to download PDF version too. I still like a hardcopy book to touch and use, but the PDF will be useful as backup, and for use with others who just need "a bit".

Very comprehensive
This does indeed provide a comprehensive guide to QuickBooks, and acts as a crucial reference book to keep alongside you. However, it deals with the US version of the software so issues such as VAT and PAYE are not addressed directly.

It must be a good book. But did not say that this book focuses on the Quickbook Pro version. I wished someone had said that before buying this book. I have to return it to find another book that will focus on the Online version of quickbooks. All the menus and the illustrations and the instructions are all based on the desktop software that was downloaded for QB pro. Will need to find another one now for the online version.

Delivery was on time. A bit disappointed that this Manual is clearly aimed at the US market as there is no mention of the VAT management function. This was not made clear in the product description. However there are enough other hints and tips that I don't feel it was a complete waste of money.
