NOTE: Review NOT for the pro players but to entry level enthusiasts who are exploring new tones. I've been self taugh for some time and decided to start exploring on effects and pedals, currently I'm using a very simple "rig" using Tonebridge and some boss wireless pedals (FS-1-WL) with extra (FS-6) to allow changing presets in the app and somehow start experimenting a live set. Sound was pretty good but not quite there, I have a very good ear but not enough money or expertise to buy tons of pedals and make it sound like the original track. My epiphone Slash sounds decent but with a muddy sound sometimes, of course being a noob I though it was my fault (partially) so to this point the overall sound was not as exciting as expected. As I mentioned I did somewhat of a amateur pedalboard and had a empty slot, after some research about sound and tones I found this gem... enter the Boss EQ-200. I'm writing this because after a few tweaks I played Black from Pearl Jam and it actually sounded like part of the track, mindblown! So few notes for my fellow guitar starters: * It is very expensive, yes. But take it from me, I bought gear from another brand and put it away after 30 minutes. This will not be a magic bullet, to need to know a thing or 2. * It drastically changes the sound for the good, but then again you need to tune it. * The new sounds are so good you will want to practice more and more.

Most EQs give you two settings: on and off. This gives you over 100 (128, I think), but it also lets you configure the pedal to advance through as many, or as few, presets as you like. For instance, I have it set up with four presets and the manual settings. I can tap through those five different EQ settings using the footswitch. You could, however, configure the pedal to allow you to tap through many more different settings before it scrolls back to number 1, again. This was a crucial feature, for me, since I use different EQ settings for different guitars with different pickups. It's easy to configure and save presets, has plenty of adjustment, plenty of gain, and is small enough for most pedalboards, even with 10 bands of EQ. The display shows which preset you've selected, then shows the "shape" of the EQ setting. You can tweak any preset, then save it with a couple of button presses. Great pedal, great price, so much functionality in a small package!

You should have a good eq on your pedalboard. This is an excellent choice. It's quiet and precise. The frequency settings are great. Indispensable pedal. Dial in for any room, pick ups, etc... It's a must have.
