Approximately 12 years ago before the Christmas holidays, Keurig flooded the TV air waves with commercials for their new K cup pod coffee maker that quickly brewed one cup of coffee. I liked the concept but never heard of Keurig and had no idea who they were or if they were a legitimate company or merely a scam so I didn’t buy their coffee maker. On January 5, 2011 I was shopping in Costco and saw a Cuisinart K cup coffee maker. Having a Cuisinart food processor, can opener, toaster and conventional coffee maker I was familiar with the company and the fine quality of their products. It used the K pods that the other company’s coffee maker used. It was love at first site and I bought the Cuisinart SS780PC coffee maker for $164.99. I loved that coffee maker and used her to pleasure myself every day and some days two, three and more times a day. We’ll here it is 11+ years later and she started to wear out from old age. The pump was sluggish and would no longer pump out a full 12 ounce mug of coffee. I sip and savor every one of those perfectly brewed 12 ounces of coffee. So I felt let me buy the current Cuisinart replacement for the model SS780PC I presently had and I went directly to Amazon and found the SS10 Cuisinart coffee maker and bought it immediately for $139.95. I was impressed with the voluminous number of 5 star reviews and I never pay any mind to an occasional 1 or 2 star review. Negative people write negative reviews and attempt to punish the manufacturer for mishaps caused by their own ignorance. Case in point splashing on the counter top. Possibly Sir Issac Newton could explain it better but if common sense prevailed there would be no splashing on the counter top. When a liquid drips from a higher point down to a standing liquid at a lower point the drops that are standing will splash up from being hit by the falling drops from above, especially if you use a shallow low sided tea cup. If a couple drops splash wipe it up with a paper towel, it’s not the fault of Cuisinart and it’s no big deal. Certainly not rocket science but basic rules of gravity. This new model does not have the blue light illuminatIng the water reservoir when water is low and has two heat settings HOT and VERY HOT rather than multiple degree settings. The engineers at Cuisinart realized these two features are not critical and designed a much better coffee maker for a $25 lower price eleven years after their original model was manufactured I loved my SS780PC but will have a torrid romance with this SS10. It is well designed and attractive, aesthetically adds to the beauty of my custom designed and handsomely decorated gourmet kitchen. I turn it on and immediately the open head icon illuminates, I put in a K pod and in less than one minute I’m sipping a 12 ounce mug of freshly brewed delicious and satisfying coffee. On top of that Cuisinart gives you a three year warranty. Talk about a manufacturer having faith in their product’s quality. I’m so glad I was skeptical years ago and never bought a Keurig. My old Cuisinart gave me 11 years of faithful service and I’m looking forward to a very long and enjoyable relationship with my new SS10. If you’re looking to buy a K pod single serve coffee brewer, don’t waste any more time looking. BUY this one it looks great, represents EXCELLENT VALUE, will brew you an EXCELLENT CUP OF COFFEE in a minute, is covered by Cuisinart’s 3 year warranty and Amazon will deliver it to your front door. When our second K Plus Supreme died I swore of Keurig. Bought this because it had good reviews and was $100, so a lot less expensive. Wow, what a pleasant surprise! This thing is faster and hotter. I started to leave it on all the time, but than set to auto off just to see how long it took to start up in the morning. Unbelievably, it was ready to go INSTANTLY. I have no idea how they do that. Bottom line: By far the best coffee pot we have ever owned.

I love this machine. We have one at the office and over almost 3 years its has made hundred's of cups of coffee without fail . When my coffee maker at home died, I got this one for home too. One really nice thing that most people miss is that this machine heats water almost instantly, Matter of fact, inside its a instant hot water heater, not a hot water tank like most all pod systems. Turn it on and within 2 mins or so you have coffee. That also saves energy too because it not constantly keeping a tank of water hot when its on.

We do enjoy the coffee maker & hot water dispenser is great to have. Drinks are hotter than our Keurig. The coffee from grounds is great & convenient with reusable pod. I gave 4 stars only because the water coming out does splash out of cup a little. I would purchase again.

After 12 years, sadly we had to replace our Cuisinart SS-700 because it finally stopped working and there is no way to fix it anymore. There didn’t seem many high quality single serving pod coffee makers to choose from, and since we had been very happy with our SS-700 plus all the other Cuisinart small appliances we own, we chose to go with the SS-10. After using it for one day, am already having serious doubts about the SS-10. Thus far, the SS-10 has it has failed to live up to the stellar Cuisinart reputation. The SS-700 brewed a single cup of coffee quickly and quietly. The SS-10, however, is the complete opposite of the SS-700. The SS-10 is extremely noisy, brews a cup SO incredibly slow and all the while sputters, splashes, squeals, and makes other disturbing noises. The SS-700 had a heating boiler for the water, which resulted in quick turnarounds for second, third and fourth cups of coffee – the SS-10 is different which, I am guessing, is what results in the very slow brewing cycle. The actual weight of the SS-10 is so much lighter than the SS-100, perhaps because it seems as if the entire unit is cheaply made with everything cheap painted plastic. The old model, we could fit a 16oz cup but this model, because the pod holder doesn’t swing up/tilt out – instead it is a giant "piece of fixed plastic resulting in a significant loss of height from the drip tray to the output nozzle. This entire unit feels cheaply made and as if any of the plastic parts could break at anytime. Cuisinart also replaced the sturdy metal needle of the SS-700 model with a piece of angle cut plastic in the SS-10, which is NOT sharp. The tops of the pods are being ripped, not punctured. And when you press the brew button -from "Brew" to "Open Head" takes over a full minute and a half to brew a 10 oz cup. At this point the machine annoyingly loud which is compounded with the rattling vibrations of the machine. (loud enough to wake anyone else who might still be sleeping). The SS-700 made the low, but quiet grumble when it pulled in water from the tank, before and after the Brew cycle followed by going quiet during the Brew, while brewing the coffee for a 16oz cup in under 30 seconds. I am so very very disappointed with Cuisinart for cheapening a product that was high quality. Although I have had the unit for only one day, what I have experienced thus far is making me regret buying this unit and am most likely going to be returning it (luckily I kept all the packaging materials). All I want first thing in the morning is a good cup of coffee made quickly and quietly – something this unit cannot, apparently, offer. I wish there was some way Cuisinart could go back to making the SS-700.

Made in Vietnam. Quality, craftsmanship and pride were obvious, even opening the manufacturer's packaging. Do yourself a favor, read/understand the manufacturer's instructions before using. They're not complicated, but this is not your old coffeemaker. If you brew your own, follow manufacturer's recommendations concerning fineness of coffee grind and the amount placed in the filter basket. Preferring our own ground coffee, we use disposable K cup coffee filters, (purchase separately), in the stainless steel filter basket, simplifying cleanup after brewing. Just dump the used grounds, rinse the filter cup and ss basket, and you're ready to go again; with very little coffee grounds going down the disposal. After 3 weeks of daily use we've had no negative experiences, once we followed the instructions. Because the brewing head and reusable filter cup are so well designed, (no overflow), the interior surfaces of the brewing chamber remain very clean. Water reservoir's easy to fill or top off, while still in place on the machine. We brew a larger final cup volume by doubling the brew cycle, using the same grounds. After the first brew, just pop the brewing head release handle, raise it all the way up until you hear a 'click', press down until the head engages, select your volume and hit the brewing button again. We removed the drip tray to accommodate larger travel mugs and don't have any residual drips. As others have noted, when the SS-10 pump engages it does make a surprisingly louder sound than one would expect. Wake up world, here comes your Java! Love that there is an on/off power switch. My only negatives involve the plastic chrome release handle. I don't completely raise the brewing head with the handle; it feels ‘weak’. Once released, I raise the brewing head itself to the 'fully open (click)' position. My only true criticism is the plastic chrome handle surface. It collects and mirrors accumulated fingerprints until you wipe them off. Otherwise, this Cuisinart Single Serve is the best coffeemaker we've had. We look forward to the unique 'clunk' of the pump when it starts our ‘good morning’ brew cycle.

I'm writing this after having had brewed a good 100 cups of coffee with it. My history is I had used the old larger version of this. I went through a brewer around 2013, was in the 2yr warranty and got it replaced no charged by cuisinart as the pump wasn't doing well. Then I bought another before they went to the new model currently offered and unfortunately it started to just not handle the new cups, I was getting half cups of what I wanted. So I decided to retire the old coffee maker and saw alot of reviews from people like myself who at first glance probably were not happy with the changes. I loved my old version but as a lot of times happens, the old equipment eventually goes bad and you can't repair them. Out of my own curiosity to what changed with this new version, I took it a step further on my old version to see what was inside the bigger version. The old version had a water tank, it was amber almost like some synthetic plastic/glass with heating elements like an electric water heater. it had to heat up, pressurize and pump. Over time this heat in a tank and plastic parts and let's be honest just ok air pump and water pump it starts to fail over time. I think I got lucky with a good 5 years and probably 2000 cups dispenses. I drink a lot of coffee daily! The new version is a smaller footprint. The tray is much smaller. What is different with this design is the new version has no water storage tank inside, now it runs the water to the k-cup, while that water is getting to the k-cup, it goes through a heating coil. This is much different and hence why it pumps slow and is smaller. I think the cup brew is hotter and better flavor that the old unit. The top cap to press down on the k-cup is improved in my opinion to ensure a tight seal and pump. Engineering seems better for ensuring a good outcome with the cups. I'm ok with that. If that means that there is less scaling and water tank issues and pumps failing this works. Same problems as the other unit with filling larger travel mugs. You have to brew into smaller cup then pour into your travel mug. Not a huge deal to me. The water tank no longer has a blue led light to blink when it's getting low. The tank is different designed, the charcoal spot is different how it seats but I have no idea if it's better or similar. The tank is a little smaller but I probably get 5 large coffee brews before I refill it or I just refill a water cup while it's brewing. So far so good. The warranty experience in past model I had was excellent. I don't know if I'll need it but last time cuisinart took care of a brewer that had failed me. I would expect the same experience should I need it. I'll come back if something changes but so far it's been a good replacement. I don't know if anything will ever be perfect but cuisinart makes a good k-cup brewer. If you are trying to figure out the best k-cup brewer, I can attest to 10+ years of this brand and alot of cups brewed. It's a good machine!

I felt compelled to write a review because as I was reading some other reviews, I felt like some are nitpicking at details that, in the long run, shouldn't dramatically impact your coffee making experience with this machine. I purchased my first Cuisinart single serve coffee maker about 5 years ago - upgraded after many years of keurig brand single serve makers mostly because I am bougie and wanted my coffee maker to match my other Cuisinart countertop appliances. But also, I have trust in the Cuisinart name. The only reason I decided to get a new one is because I use my single serve basically every single day and I am lazy and didn't descale/clean my maker as consistently as I should have. The build-up eventually will become noticeable as your coffee flavors get dulled and, by that point, there's only so much you can do to try to give it a good cleaning. So first piece of advice, clean ya coffee maker. I got this second one while it was on sale for a terrific price although at the "normal" price as it is without a sale is still less than what I recall paying those years ago. The various options of settings is what makes this a *chef's kiss* product for me. I love that I can set this to: turn on and off at the times I want; use a default cup size (12 oz for me) ; and temp. It is ready to go from the minute it turns on, starting right up and brewing that pod immediately. Some reviews mention that it's loud, it splashes, it continues to drip after it finishes brewing. I don't find this machine super loud at all, it does make a low-level whirring, whooshing sound, but it's a machine, I don't expect it to be silent. It will splash back a bit on the machine as it brews, but again, it's brewing liquid into a cup, splashing is going to happen. The dripping after brewing seems normal, a few drips to finish off the brewing cycle, leave your cup there for an extra 5 seconds and you'll capture those drips. Be gentle when you are opening/closing the pod holder part ... an easy push down will still pierce the top and hopefully prevent it from blowing out a big hole that winds up spreading coffee grounds everywhere. Yes, I do have an issue using travel mugs with this machine - it's the one drawback that I will absolutely concede is a con to this product. None of my standard travel size containers will fit under the brewing mechanism. Your only option is to brew into a regular coffee mug and then pour that into your travel cup - annoying, but I have done this a more than a few occasions. I try to use the reusable pod for the majority of my brewing (that reusable pod is included) to reduce on waste. For my overall, day-to-day, needs this maker totally does the job.

I have been a die hard keurig fan but they keep breaking down. This coffee pot is easy to use, seems reliable so far and I love it. The rinse button works great after making many cups of coffee and the hot water runs clear to make just hot water. It's louder and slower than the keurig BUT, it's making a much better cup of coffee. I hope to update in 6 months and still be happy

Esta es una de las mejores cafeteras caseras, es fabulosa, práctica, yo tengo una desde hace mas de 4 años y siempre ha funcionado a la perfección, por lo que ahora compré otra para regalar. Hace como un año quise regalar una, pero no había, como que dejaron de fabricarla un tiempo. Por eso en cuanto vi que estaba en el mercado nuevamente, la compré, la regalé y me han comentado que funciona exactamente igual que la mía viejita. Puedes preparar un café o los que quieras, es súper rápida, y como tiene la opción de usar café molido, es muy práctico y económico. Realmente la recomiendo muchísimo. Es la mejor de su tipo.

When I unpackaged the coffeemaker, I thought the clear plastic piece and white tablet-like thing inside the water reservoir were just packing materials. These parts were not identified in the manual or anywhere, and because I wasn't sure if they should be in my water for brewing, I took them out of the reservoir and was prepared to throw them in the trash. Then my coffeemaker wouldn't work (it kept saying Not Ready Add Water). After reading an article online, I realized those unidentified parts are actually crucial for the machine to work! The white tablet is the water sensor that tells the machine whether there is enough water in the reservoir. If this were labelled or explained somewhere in the manual or quick reference instructions, that would save people like me from throwing away the sensor, thinking it's just some piece of useless plastic for packaging. Once I put the sensor back in, everything works as expected and it seems like a good single-serve coffeemaker!

Compact and nice design. Doesn't take up too much of the counter. As others have written, it does tend to splash out of the cup while brewing. Also 10 oz fills an average mug to the top. not much room for milk etc. A bit noisy and slow but no worse than other brewers. Seems well built and solid. Hopefully it will last.
