Tonor RJ11 RJ45 Telephone Wire Network LAN Multi-function Electric Wire Cable Toner Finder Tracker

Great Product, just after reading the in instructions I was up and running in about 10 min. You will need two 9V batteries. Some observations and suggestions. First, this gear DOES NOT come with a carrying case so you will have to find one to put everything in. I happen to have a case for a clamp on multi meter I was not using and it fit perfect. I dinged one star for this and a note to the vendor, I would have paid a bit extra for the carrying case. Ok, next suggestion and you will not see this until you have this in front of you. It comes with a 6 inch RJ45 test cable to connect the toner to a RJ45 Wall jack but it DOES NOT come with a RJ11 test cable. Do yourself a favor and make one yourself and place it with this gear. Make sure you make one with all 6 wires (RJ11) and not just the two or four wires that you find with most RJ11 phone cables. This will allow you to use it to tone out an RJ11 Phone Jacks. This was my case in my home. I went to the garage and made one. I placed the toner with my new RJ11 cable to the wall jack and then went to my cabling cabinet in the garage and BAM, found the wire in 2 minutes. I noticed that when toning out RJ11 jacks that you need to spend a bit more time finding the right cable than an RJ45 cable, not sure why but you will find it. Maybe it is just my setup in my home.I would also suggest you add to this gear a RJ45 / RJ11 coupler. You might need it to patch the toner in a hard to reach place. In my case I have a wall jack behind a TV wall unit so I placed a working RJ45 cable into the wall jack and then coupled it to the toner with the coupler and the 6" patch cable that came with the toner gear. This allowed me to readily see the display and work with to toner away from the wall jack.By the way there were some comments on the quality of the plastic. I found it to durable. Mind you I am using it for a home project and an occasional remote job.The ON/OFF switch are readily exposed, if your going to put this in a tool bag with a SOFT CASE then expect for the batteries to die down easily. If you can find a hard case this won't be a problem. Another person commented that when not in use, you can flip the the batteries upside down and put them back in the toner and receiver for long term storage. I tried this and there is room in the toner and the receiver to do this.Placing the unit in network mode and testing the wire pairs on a RJ45 cable was great. You can easily see which cables are backwards. I would of given it 5 stars if a case was included which I would of paid for. Other than that great unit for the price.Update: 10/6/16 - I just finished toning out my entire home (16) cables in under one hour. The unit performed great.Thanks

Quickly uncovers open circuits, short circuits, and misfiring in ethernet cables. I use it to test new cables before they are deployed in a network.It's pretty easy to use which is essential since the manual is as bad as we have come to expect of manuals. I have not used to tone function though the truly necessary and valuable feature of this tester his testing cintinuity and correct wiring of cables.

It worked perfectly for my needs. Initially I bought to troubleshoot my network connection. When my son's new house prewired CAT5e cables need terminating before they can be used, this served as the verification tool to indicate whether all pins are correctly crimped to plugs.

arrived on time and didn't function as expected

You get what you pay for. It's made cheep. And it's a bit fragile. But it's a great starter single line tester. It does the job. If you need a professional single line tester your going to have to spend at least another 100$ . (Aka. Paladin Single line tester)

I just started a new position on a military base..every person in the department I work in has something similar.I REALLY wish this would have come with a carrying case though. Should have looked into the product closer.
