Good kit worked as intended

I needed a cheap set of tap and dies and these fitted my budget. I wasn't expecting fantastic quality or super long life, I just needed something to start with and the plan is to replace breakages or the "really bad quality" with something better as the need arose. I had one project in mind when I purchased the set and as soon as it arrived I got straight to it. On opening the box I was a little disappointed as expected the smaller size dies to be 1 inch and the larger ones 1.5inch, (the smaller dies are 1.5" and the bigger ones 2"), not the end of the world for an experienced engineer but still now I had to rethink my statergy. My project required me to thread a 1/2-20 arbor, which needed to be dead square to the angle of rotation. It took 2 attempts to get the thread square and about 1/3 along the shank the die bound up so bad I was worried it would break. I had read reviews commenting on the brittleness of the tools and I was worried that I had got myself in to one of those situations where I could no longer cut but backing up would chip the cutting edge due to brittleness. I worked the tool very gently back and forth until the die was "free". Ultimately I cut the thread I desired and I am very pleased with the result. My final comment is, if you can afford to by top quality then do not even consider these products. Top quality products will still fail under abuse but these cheap products do not tolerate any type of mishandling.

I know your sitting there like why would I want to buy a really cheap tap and die set well I've been using sets like these for my larger hardware just to clean up threads and have never had an issue with them I have never actually cut new threads with them but I'd imagine as long as you aren't forcing it they should work just fine. Other than that the case is junk and they don't really stay in very well but for the price I could care less how the case is as long as the taps and dies work

Meh go to harbor freight. Accuracy is ok for a few holes. Instructions are laughable to the point of insanity. Get what you pay for. Not pro grade.

These are definitely cutters. They have been used to chase old threads, cut new ones and they are so pretty. I hung one from a chain around my neck and was soon selling them to the neighborhood kids. The only drawback might be the case lets them slide out on occasion but the tool itself is solid.

Nice set. Included the larger sizes that we used to retap bolts on farm tractors. Also made a tilt tube for boat steering cable. Made from scratch, saved 100.00!

This set helped to clean threads on the base for loader on my tractor.

The brand on the tools ( TUNGSTEN ) reminds me of the tools from my Grandfather in the early 1970's and at this time not to much came from Asia and my GF was an professional Machinist. I had to work already with this tools and I'm happy, it is more expensive then other set, but you get what you paid for.

It was as good as I expected for the price, Neiko fills a spot in the tool market for the home gamer that doesn’t want total garbage. For occasional home use this product will fit the bill.

It worked out beautifully can a nice package and used it to fix the bulldozer had to rethread some big boats
