Is there no protective film on the inside of the screen to be removed before installing?

I do not think there is any on the inside of this screen.

The iPad works after screen replacement but says it’s not connected to the internet (it was prior to). I re-connected all screws. Any advice?

The screene has nothing to do with the network card. I bet , you might have disconnected one of the small wires next to the touch button. These wires have a very small round connector on the end and power the network card. Should be two of them under the pannel you removed for the touch pannel.
