Flimsy and comparatively expensive, the bracket that holds the blade snapped in half after cutting the fourth bottle, very disappointing :(

I bought this set after first trying out a less expensive kit that gave me everything I needed to get started. This verticle setup is a little more challenging to keep your bottle aligned and get a straight cut, but it works nicely. The cutter actually pops out of its socket if you aren't careful in adjusting it and that can be a pain. I'm planning to use these in community Trash to Art workshops and my first event was kid's summer camp where 10-12 year olds had a great time trying this out. The top cutter is really helpful but I'm not sure what to do with the rest of it (especially the big rubber bands) and there are no instrucations included. In 4 groups of kids we didn't have a single drop of blood and the kids had a great time. This kit is really expensive so if you're just starting out I'd suggest going with a set that includes everything (sandpaper) and instructions, then moving on to this if you decide you really need to be able to cut the tops off your bottles.

This is the best bottle cutter on the market. It’s easy to use and carbide cutting wheel scores the bottle perfectly. Using the thermal separation method (hot to cold water) the bases/bottoms popped off cleanly. Once the bottoms are gone, put a cork in the top and use the same approach as above. I was amazed how clean the separation point turned out. I used these bottles in a mold in a kiln and they turned out perfectly. A must have in anyones bottle cutting set of tools. I would like to add that if you call or email the manufacturer they are very responsive.

Round bottles cut great. Rectangular bottles harder due to shape. Overall works great. I like the construction.

The scoring blade only lasted through a few bottles before I had to order new blades
