40 Days: Prayers and Devotions to Prepare for the Second Coming

If you're looking for this book, you must have a reason to be doing so. If you've never done a 40 days of prayer and fasting, I still recommend starting with Book 4 ("to Revive your relationship with God"), but this one is a close second. This book is made for those persons who are weary and struggling, trying to determine what matters vs. what doesn't. Trying to clear out the noise in their heads to hear the voice of the Lord. There is something about prayer. And when you have a focused plan and do it as intended, it is POWERFUL. I've done 1 full 40 days and am attempting to complete a second now with this book, I'm telling you, the focused praying will change your entire life and your perspective on the Lord, the Holy Spirit, and even your purpose. God will transform everything about you if you want Him to, if you let Him. I recommend giving it a chance.

The author's writings inspire fresh devotion from familiar texts and biblical accounts that can lead to deepened commitment to God. IMHO what makes this book(and the series) work is having a prayer partner and going through the book with that person. I started reading it alone and it did not have meaning for me until I began to share it as he instructs in the introduction and manual. Very wonderful book. I must say that I was disappointed at the end - what next- that rather than recommend some evangelical outreach or spiritual sharing; he recommended purchasing his next book. I think this is a major fail and really rather spiritually offensive. What a lost opportunity! So three books later, many are saying - still now what? I kept purchasing and reading the series to keep up with my prayer group. Later in his series, he begins to repeat what he has repeated in the first book, and you may find that you object to some of the conclusions that he begins to make. I think this first book is really a useful spiritual tune-up, and maybe he should have stopped here. I hope this helps.

5 stars for excellent content and good writing. Very scipture-based, left brained explanation of the creativity of Papa's heart. Excellent, bite-sized readings. If someone longs to experience and not just study about other people's relationships with Papa, this book will get them going!! Highly recommend to those of you who are feeling led to get up close and personal and want to test out what it's like to make Him Lord of everything in your life! :) Enjoy! :)

When I purchased 40 Days Praryers and Devotions to Prepare for the Second Coming, I expected Dennis Smith to present us with another one of thoousands of books saying that Jesus will be returning by next Tuesday or some immediate future date. I was pleased to see that this was not the case. It is a series of forty devotional sections accenting on devotion to the Holy Spirit, one section to daily be read and shared with a "prayer partner." While told from Mr. Smith's Seventh Day Adventist point of view, it is a book that can be easily read by people of any denomination. He writes clearly and his instructions about the Holy spirit are easy to read and understand. His message is not that Jesus is coming in the next minute but that Jesus is coming sometime and our best way to prepare for His arrival is to develope a devotion to the Holy Spirit who abides with us now on Earth.

The book is written in a manner the Holy Spirit has approved it and I was totally blessed and have experienced change spiritually and physically,and mentally in my life and my walk with God. Blessings

Pastor Smith has obviously spent time with the Lord and therefore has been led by His Holy Spirit in the inspiration in this book...Thank You Jesus! My prayer partner and I are just completing Book 3! Perhaps you've heard this cliche' 'knowledge is power,' I submit to you that the power is only experienced when you APPLY THE KNOWLEDGE! That's exactly what's available to you in this (and his other) studies. May our Heavenly Father receive the glory due His name! Thank you for your example Pastor Dennis.

What an empowering book, the author was truly filled with the mighty power of the Holy Spirit while writing this book. These writings truly prepares you and others for Christ’s coming!

I started reading this book after reading the powerful book, “Steps to Personal Revival” by Helmut Haubeil.This book is a real eye-opener, and it’s soul-searching! It stimulates a consistent intercessory prayer life, and a personal desire for change and spiritual growth!I recommend it to anyone who is unsatisfied with their spiritual condition!I also recommend it to anyone who would like to have a closer connection with Christ, and a Spirit-filled life!Thank you Dennis for such an inspiring book! I loved it, and will read it again.

Book was used, but in very good condition.Currently being studied at my church during our Wednesday night prayer meetings and is an excellent devotional.Contained a set of prayer request cards - written I assume by the original owner of the book. I will endeavour to continue his/her prayers for those individuals.
