It may not be a basic kitchen tool, but it is one I use a lot, preferring it to a colander. Works well with most pasta, noodles, vegetables, and especially for deep frying. Sturdy and the different sizes are handy, though the largest gets only limited use (I usually cook in quantities for 3 only). Good purchase

I conducted an informal weight test using the five potatoes. I chose potatoes due to their density meaning a solid. Each picture I am holding up the amount potatoes in the previous picture. Since you can't see all of the potatoes vertically. I over loaded each spider in order to get a "true" strength test. I do not have a scale to measure the weight of the potatoes. I chose a large one, a medium one and three small ones. As you can see they are very sturdy. I doubt that you will exceed the weight of the potatoes. Since I over loaded each spider. I also tried to twist the spider and was not able to twist it. I highly recommend these spiders due to their strength and durability. Since they are so easy to clean, I wouldn't put them in the dishwasher even though you can. I like to keep my items looking new for as long as possible. I don't want to risk dulling the finish over time. I just got my scale and the weight of the potatoes are exactly 2 pounds. I seriously doubt that you will exceed 2 lbs during normal usage.

This set of 3 stainless steel spider strainers is well-made and very useful for cooking. They work great for hot pot, draining broccoli, and frying, and the sturdy design makes them easy to handle. The only improvement I’d suggest is adding about 2cm to each size for even better coverage. Overall, a high-quality and versatile kitchen tool—just a bit smaller than I’d prefer.

I got these for me when I cook fish out side on my fish cooker .they do hold up really good. I use them all the time.
