Great product
Great product! Installed night sights on 5 different handguns (Sig and Glock) and no problems. Well built, heavy duty, easy to use.

Very Nicely Made Tool!
So far, I'm very impressed! While I was disappointed that this was made in China, my initial impressions are that it's a very solid, heavy, and well-made piece of equipment. Everything had been well-oiled, so there were no signs of any corrosion on any surface. All the nuts and screws worked very smoothly. My only negative comment was that the threads on the vertical locking bolts seemed a bit rough when I first adjusted it--not sure what the issue was--but once the locking nuts had been turned once it worked very smoothly. The sight adjustment wheel was secured with a set screw, so it shouldn't come loose during use. Everything adjusted smoothly and easily. Even the user manual was thorough. I was also impressed with the packaging, which certainly helped keep things from getting dinged up during shipping.

Wheeler makes you feel like a professional armorer
I purchased both the wheeler and the cheaper wiregear to see if there was a difference. The wheeler is definitely built better and the details like the knurling were better, but the wire gear also worked great. If you want the best go with wheeler. The details were just better on the wheeler, but if you want something more cost effective that will do the exact same job go with the wiregear. Both made changing sights a breeze, even sig sights.

Worked well, nice tool.
Originally I'd considered the MG Works universal sight tool but with all the slide adapters, the cost quickly went north of $400. For my casual uses, this was far more than desired to spend. This Wheeler unit fit the uses with a price point that was reasonable and would allow uses on other guns. The prior reviews concerned me about breakage so I called Wheeler to find out how this version differed. The customer service rep told me they had replaced the drive screw on this revision and they will be more robust. My box indicates a revision B though the code on the tool itself is 4-10-16. Some preliminary thoughts before putting it to use. The top guide that has the curve or flat spot is a synthetic composite. Precautions like using tape on the slide to protect the finish would be advised. Same goes for the four adjustable clamps that secure the slide on each side. I used a thin fiber phenolic spacer that has some cushioning-compression properties. Tape is easily torn and depending on any movement may not be sufficient cushion. YMMV. Make sure that the pusher is perpendicular to the dove tails, if it is pushing slightly off, it may drive the sight in slightly off and damage the sights. With the front or rear of the slide in position, line the pusher notch up with the slide and sight down the top to verify they line up, adjust the side clamps as necessary. Snug up the top allowing sufficient clearance for the pusher to clear the slide. Use a penetrating oil on the dove tails. The first task was the Sig 2022 replacing with Sig Night Sights/Meprolights. The originals were in there REALLY tight, I had concerns if the adjustment tool would break or the slide may be damaged by the force used. Luckily it didn't give out and they eventually came out with a pretty good amount of force. The pusher itself began to cant and didn't apply force perpendicular to the sight. It does have some play so I wish they could tighten the tolerances there to remove that. The front was driven in slightly off and the slide dovetail is harder than the sight. This wore a slightly off groove that would not allow the sight to be driven in perpendicular. An Oh sheep! moment and the front sight required some filing to remove the burr. The perfectionist in me wanted to order a new front because I want it "right" not finessed in. Spending $50 wasn't desired so I cleaned up the burr, it went in smoothly following and a touch of cold blue covered the slight wear on the tip of the sight. The rear was pretty firm and it eventually seated fine without any need for fine abrasive paper. Onto the HK P2000, I couldn't ask for it to be any smoother, the originals came out with mild effort. The Trijicon HD front dovetail was about .006" wider than the original. Taking a bit off the bottom and a hair off had it about .003 larger. The rear has a hollowed based so this will compress some when driven in. The HK was easy to work on with the Trijicons and installing these was uneventful. Overall a nice tool and other than the pusher screw having some take-up and deflection, the rest of this unit is great. If they could use a bushing on the drive screw it would reduce some of the deflection when encountering stubborn sights. Getting the slide lined up will insure that the sights come out and go in smoothly. Worth the $200 to me. :)

Well worth the money many times over
Worked great for removing a S&W Bodyguard 2.0 rear site. I tried what many others have with a hammer/punch/vice.. this didn't work.. didn't budge. Read about this and people having luck with it. I put some PB penetrating oil on the site edges to hopefully loosen it, not that it was rusted, but still... and once the slide was in the pusher i went around with a lighter to heat up the slides metal surrounding the site hopefully to expand the metal some, not to the point of doing damage to the finish, but kept it moving. Then had the pusher at the lowest point I could on the site while checking slide clearance and "crack" it started to move! I then checked and adjusted the pusher height to just clear the slide but stay at the lowest point on the site while moving it and success!! I didn't use this in a vise, I preferred to hold it and turn while keeping an eye on the pusher. I would highly recommend!! I have some S&W M&P pistols I'll be using this on next. Well made nice heavy construction, would buy one again.

Springfield sight buster!
After spending considerably less on inferior products and getting fed up, I finally had enough and bought the best looking tool offered. This beautifully engineered and crafted piece of machinery is impressive out of the box. The Springfield XD is notorious for its factory sights being nearly impossible to remove. The amount of force required is ridiculous. I got the slide clamped in there as perfect and tight as possible. I rotated that handle around twice and it didn't budge. At this point I needed to use a long socket as a breaker bar though the instructions said not to. 1/4 turn later I started wondering where all this energy was going since it wasn't being released. I checked the tool and nothing seem to be twisting or torquing out of reason but I didn't notice my slide starting to curve. I backed it off a little bit still keeping plenty of tension on, rotated the tool onto its side so it's clamping the wheels were resting on my workbench, and helped the pusher block with a couple taps from a hammer. I found out later this is actually in the instructions. That's what it took to break it free enough just to start to move. A another full turn of the handle and another firm tap with a hammer got it to move enough where I could rotate it out just with the handle but it still wasn't easy. The tool did everything it could and everything I needed to do and it handled the toughest job it will ever have beautifully. I didn't have to hammer help the rear sight and it did make a crack sound when it broke through which I had read about before. However it did take the tiniest chip off the corner of the slide as it passed beyond that outer edge but it had nothing to do with the tool. It's so small I can't feel it but I can see it but will have no effect on anything. The pads that side clamp didn't have full contact because of the step in the Springfield slide so I took up that gap with a couple pieces of cut up credit card. I've worked plenty with my hands and tools over the last 30 years and can tell you this is the only site pusher tool I will ever need.

Trash. Tolerance suck, repeatability sucks, and nothing on it is smooth.
Revised to one start. The first one did not work out of the box and was returned for an exchange. The threads on the pusher screw were either machined wrong or damaged, but the torque required to move the pusher itself, with no slide/sight in the tool was absurd, and the two large holes for the big vertical clamping studs did not align with the studs and would have required hammering or prying to separate the halves. And no, there were no signs of handling or shipping damage, the box and internal styrene packaging were fine. For this price it should be perfect, but it's not. The tolerances are crap and the precision is crap, and it is not repeatable. This is substandard machine work. There's got to be something better. It did work, but marred a front sight and you can't use the graduations on the tool. EDIT- None of the slide contact surfaces are non-marring and the four clamps to position and hold the slide horizontally are steel. What a great idea, let's strip our slide and refinish it then clamp it in four steel feet. I've used it four times now and the threads for the pusher are significantly damaged. If this is what $200 buys I really wonder how much worse a $50 tool could be. This this is straight up trash. The tolerances are so loose that it can never push a sight without cocking it, potentially damaging the sight, the tool, and the slide. There is no way to grasp the tool and no provisions to bolt it to a bench. The cross handle for turning the pusher was clearly designed by someone that never used or uses tools and the amount of torque required to push a rear sight especially is enough to damage the threads of the tool. It's just trash. Don't buy it.

Great unit ๐
Using it is a lot simpler than it looks with all the dials ๐ I switched in night sights on a Sig P320 and a S&W M&P9... I don't know why it lists certain brands in the listing.. I can't imagine a situation where this unit wouldn't work. Paid for itself already. Very happy.

Wheeler Engineering Armorer's Handgun Sight Tool is not a good tool it is a GREAT tool and you are a tool if you break it. Do not use this if you have no mechanical "COMMON" sense, please - please take your firearm to a qualified gunsmith. Before purchasing this wonderful tool I have removed/installed sights on my M&P using a brass drift punch, a plastic mallett and some patients. Now, if you can operate a lathe or a drill press then you (should) be able to use this tool. While researching which tool to buy I came across many cheaply built tools that resemble this, some made in China, etc., however flimsy they may have been the reviews spoke for themselves - with many breaking the first time use. I speculated that a factory installed sight might just need a bit of finnesse and should probably have been pre-lubricated and when the tool stops instead of FORCING it to basically break, you could give it a little 'help' with a drift punch. Well, lo and behold Page 4 of the Wheeler instructions give exactly that tip, "If the sight is tight, tap on the bottom corner of the front pusher block with a hammer and set punch in the direction the sight is being pushed." So there you have it - intuition beats blind stupitidity every time. This machine weighs almost 5 pounds, the instructions are full-sized and in English, as opposed to just about everything these days being written in 7 languages and micro-script you need glasses AND a magnifying glass to read. Their website is www.BTIbrands.com and there's even more info I could give, but bottom-line is this machine should outlast you. It comes with a 1 year warrantee, but does not cover misuse, abuse or commercial use. (Although IMHO it could be used commercially by trained staff, no problemo!) I hope this helps you make a wise decision regarding adding this item to your tool shed. You won't regret it.
