HUTSULS 3"x8" Brown Leather Strop

Very nice strop. And works well. I was hoping for something a tad larger, but is is sufficienlty large and works well. Others I'm sure will think it's plenty large. The compound is also nice to have and to put that final bit of edge and remove the burs. Good quality leather.

Some reviews say it is too small and a few others say the strop just isn't of high quality. I could not disagree more. Mine is absolutely what I needed, since my old one finally did wear out. If you only sharpen large kitchen knives, then a larger strop would be ideal, but I have used it on small pocket knives up to large knives and cleavers and have achieved great results. For the price and quality, I would give it six stars if I could.

Just got a chefs choice 4643 two stage sharpener. I think it leaves a slight wire edge because the knives were biting into the cutting boards. Used this strop with the green compound and now I can shave the hair off my arm and the knives glide perfectly on the cutting board. Buy this. It’s cheap and so effective. Used it on pocket knives, shun, wusthof, and victorinox chefs knives. They’ve never been sharper.

This was my first strop, so I went very basic. It is really nice quality and value for the money. It is easy to use, thought the compound is a little dry - so you have to follow the instructions. With very little effort, I was able to get all my blades hair popping, razor sharp. I am going to also get the wooden backed one, and keep this as a travel/bag unit. Really really happy and highly recommend.

These are not stiff leather but they work really well for either freehand shaping to do U shaped curves or can be glued to a shaped dowel for similar applications. They also seem to hold up as a paddle board strop. (Always strop away from the cutting edge to avoid slicing into the leather.)

Its a piece of leather and compound. Works as intended. The "rough" side is not leather, its fabric that looks like rough leather, which is so weird. For anyone confused, a strop is used as the final step in sharpening to polish the edge and knock off and remaining wire edges. You can also strop in-between sharpenings to bring back some of the sharpness. Stropping is an absolute must if you want the sharpest edge possible. If you don't notice a difference you're probably doing it wrong.

It's just as you expect it to be, think it will last a long time, perhaps a tad expensive coming from America, the exchange rate to Uk not very good (2021) but it works well.

Great little strop. My knives always come out sharper. It's big enough I'm gonna split er down the middle and glue a smooth side to a piece of wood and a rough side to the other side of the wood. Maker er nice n sturdy.

Good product, pricey. High price is likely due to the brand reputation.
