Bought to repair a damaged gold ring, perfect for the job. Ring reformed to correct shape easily before gold soldering.

Did the job nicely
I bought this to resize some of my Wifes rings. It did the job nicely. Though the product itself doesn't feel like it's the best of quality, it did perform the task in hand perfectly well. All the items needed for resizing a ring are included in the package, ring size guages, rubber / plastic mallett and a ring size mandrel. Certainly worth the money if you need to resize a handful of rings.

It works
Works well to increase size of my wife’s wedding ring (I wormed the gold ring in almost boiling water first to try and make it more malleable).

Why isn’t it round?
It’s a good quality kit for a decent price, but the actual ring taper is such a let down. I bought this to reshape a couple of rings that had lost their roundness, however the taper, for some ridiculous unknown reason has two deep, wide ridges cut out of it and running down its full length at each side. It’s not just fully circular and rounded the whole way around. Using it to try and shape a ring is a lot less convenient because of that. You have to use it intelligently and keep rotating your jewellery to avoid making a figure 8 shaped ring. It’s really frustrating, because it seems like it would be more work for them to create this product in this way, and whilst I’m not an expert at all, I just cannot understand a functional purpose for why they do it. Either way it was a let down for my intended use but I managed to get a decent result none the less

Brilliant- sized up a ring
I was worried this would damage my ring that has a design on the outside but as the hammer head is soft, it did not. Took quite a lot of hitting, maybe half an hour or so of continuous hitting but it saved me like £50 compared to going to jewellers. I recommend this but only if you want to go up a size or a size and a half max, otherwise I don't think the metal would be able to take it and it may snap the ring.

Don't do it
Don't do it. I completely destroyed my ring. I'm sure it's possible to use this safely but I certainly couldn't. I had to get my ring repaired after and the jeweller told me to throw it out immediately. He told me that this is absolutely not the way to resize a ring. For one, if the ring has stones in it the process will cause the setting to warp and they will become loose and fall out. The ring might also snap if you stretch it too far. Even if it doesn't snap or the stones fall out, you will have damaged the integrity of the ring and made it much more likely to break in future. Don't use this unless you're will to lose the ring or pay to get it fixed.
