Is it safe to put in the microwave for sterilizing? I don't have a dishwasher.

I would not recommend putting this pot in a microwave. The manufacturer or distributor has described its glaze as a "food-grade sealant" with no further explanation, but it has been flagged by a California Proposition 65 warning for a reason and the consumer has a right to know why there is such a warning on a product that is meant to promote health. One can only wonder if the glaze is unsafe. When I use this pot, I boil Smart Water in a pan on the stove and let it cool before adding salt. I recently let the water cool too long and made the mistake of putting the pot in the microwave for ten seconds. This resulted in burning sinuses and an acrid odor or taste that was not organic. Without more information on the chemical constituents of the glaze on a product manufactured in China that is being used to clean sinuses, I would not purchase this product again and urge those who sell it to investigate the reason it was flagged and make it public.

Does this really have a hollow handle like one reviewer reported?

I purchased because the answers said the handle is not hollow. I just received it and it is definitely hollow. It will be difficult to keep clean because the opening at the top is a lot smaller than the bottom opening. Returning this one.

I found conflicting answers and cannot tel what is true? Is the handle hollow or solid?

The Neti Pot is slip cast ceramics.  The slip solidifies on the surface of the plaster mold.  The thickness of the solid slip increases over time.  Therefore, if the slip is poured out in a short enough time the handle would be hollow.  However, the walls of the Neti Pot are fairly thick.  The walls of the handle are generally thick enough to make the handle solid.

How much salt should you use in 1 pot?

I use less than 1/4 tsp. More doesn't dissolve well, and stings. Play with it until you find what feels best to you.
