Epson Workforce ES-580W Wireless Color Duplex Desktop Document Scanner for PC and Mac with 100-sheet Auto Feeder (ADF), Intuitive 4.3' Touchscreen

Buying this was a lifesaver. I work for a local Non-Profit and we needed to save to PDF's 60 years of Newsletters printed 2 sided on legal paper. We are also going to be scanning all our business records for archiving. This is a FAST really reliable two sided scanner that handles the paper really well, along with important very fragile old photographs (in carrier sleeves), getting the photos and the notes handwritten on the back of the photos with ease. Very happy with the unit, great price, easy to use, and a workhorse. We also like that the top feeder comes off with ease, allowing us to store the unit in a small space. The only silly thing with it is the USB port is on the back of the unit if you want to scan to a thumb drive. Minor design fail, but you can add a USB extension dock like we did to get the port in front of the unit. The software to direct scan to your computer is simple to use, is intelligent (skipping blank pages, etc.) and easy to set-up. We also programmed the scanner to do emails to our Secretary and Treasurer, as well as FTP the files to our server.

Excellent scanner with a small footprint. Works well, configures locally attached, software is good, scans very quickly (even double-sided). I bought this because our multi purpose printer scans single sided and doesn't work that well. This little guy flys through scans with great quality. Well worth it.

Got this scanner just for home use. My old Brother printer's sheet feeder broke so I had been scanning documents manually, one side at a time. So I decided to splurge on this scanner. It's more than I need because I don't have that many long documents to regularly scan. But I spent a few days scanning numerous documents and the scanner worked great. I don't have any complaints. It's fast, it works over Wifi and it's got a small footprint.

I bought this to replace my Raven scanner. Raven has gone out of business :(. The positives that I like about this scanner are that it is a pure WIFI scanner. After the setup with Epson, you can place it anywhere, and it will scan your documents to the cloud. I have it set at 300dpi, and the scans are good. The scanning speed is also good. No complaints there. The downside is that the software does not remove blank pages like my old Raven did. Thus, the four stars.

Love it, good buy, and will be great for doing my taxes. It’s scans fast, also easy to use just follow the instructions the company provides you. It connected to my WiFi with no problem, also a great size for desktop computers. Oh last but least love the touch screen. And I don’t have to join a membership to use the scanner. Worth the money. Recommend this scanner to all! 🥸

I've had this for a number of months now and have used it quite a bit. The wireless option and direct connect have been easy to do. The single/duplex as well as different quality scans have been easy to switch between. Overall it's been easy, durable, consistent, and good quality.

This is my second purchase of an Epson scanner. I have had the first one for approximately seven years and it is still working fine. Bought this second one for a new office location and it is working as well as the first one. Great product which I recommend.

I have received 5 of these types of scanners in the past 2 weeks; two ES-500W II, and then three ES-580W. Upon opening each box and doing the 1st scan, all of them have lines across the top of the page, down the left side and across the bottom. 1 of the ES-580W scanners was purchased through Amazon, but the other 2 were ordered through the Epson store. After speaking with Epson technical support, they are thinking to receive these many defective scanners, that possibly whomever is selling these on Amazon, they are defective so we ordered directly through the Epson store. Upon receiving the 1st one, it too had the same lines, so we shipped it back for a replacement and it too is exhibiting the same lines, but worse. So all in all, Epson is having a serious problem with these scanners because I cannot believe after receiving 5 of these where every one of them has the same issue, that this is a "fluke". I had their ES-500W for 5 years and it worked great - none of these issues until the Power button would not turn on. So we replaced it with a newer model since the ES-500W is no longer available.

PROS: - Flexible reliable document scanner. Can scan-to-network drive and make use of presets directly on the scanner without having to install special software or drivers on any computers or tablets in the house. Software/drivers were supplied, but they're not needed to operate this unit. - Reliable sheet feeding; paper jams that do occur are usually limited to a missed staple or cut-outs on the the paper, or setting safety settings to high/conservative. - Successfully scanned >25,000 pages of material within the past 6 weeks and it's very reliable for both one-off scans and near continuous scanning over several hours at a time. - Can access settings via HTTPS page on local LAN. - Auto skipping of blank pages and auto-correction of paper skew are fantastic! - Scanner is easy to access and clean - the moving parts pop-out and pop-in intuitively. - Picture quality is limited (see CON below); however, configurable cropping and shadow delete are nice features to have when bulk-scanning hundreds of old physical photos. Color tones and contrast appear good compared to trial-and-error flatbed scanner, and dust on pics isn't as noticeable. - Nice options for image compression. - Nice small footprint on desk (when trays are retracted). - Handles very large documents (>100 pages)....simply by feeding the paper into the scanner in batches. - Accepts paper of differing sizes within the same scan into a single PDF (eg: scanning receipts). CONS: - Picture resolution could be improved particularly on photos (product is limited to max 600 dpi). 1200 DPI would be nice. - Would be nice to set a timer for confirming/committing the last page of a scan. At present, pressing a button to confirm last page is required. An optional 5-second countdown timer would be useful. - Additional image format outputs would be useful (eg: GIF, BMP, etc). All told, a small but reliable scanner that's great for document scanning.

I love the single button use to connect to my computer and provide the scanned document immediately. It has worked flawlessly over the last several months and feels like a very solid, reliable scanner.
