It works great!
I purchased a used unit and it arrived quickly and works perfectly fine, like new. To be honest, I really wasn't expecting much from this expensive piece of plastic. I am totally blown away by how easy it was to setup and get working. My biggest concern was that it wouldn't work plugged into a portable battery pack, but it does, just fine. I'm using it with the Koala app on iPad Pro 11" 2021 and a Presonus Atom pad MIDI controller. I plug the Atom into the Yamaha adapter female USB-A port, then the adapter's male USB-A end into a USB battery pack. It just works, and it works totally seamlessly with no perceptible latency. This setup allows me to continue using the single USB-C port on my iPad to plug in my wired headphones. Solved my problem very nicely. If there was one thing I'd change, it would be to have a little ON/OFF control on the adapter, that way I could leave it plugged into my battery pack all the time. If you have a bunch of different MIDI controllers like I do, then this is a great investment because it can work with any of them. Highly recommended.

Works great with an iPad Pro 2018 and Casio CGP-750
I bought this to use my iPad Pro 2018 with a Casio CGP-750 keyboard. I use it to control synthesizer apps (like Garageband, AudioKit and Factory) from the Casio's keyboard. So far it works great, and I am not noticing any latency for what I am doing. Since the Casio doesn't have Bluetooth MIDI, this was the solution I was looking for. The new iPad Pro does not have a separate headphone jack, so I had to use the built-in port for the headphone out. That meant I could no longer use the port for USB MIDI, like I did with my iPad Air 2. My only options for using headphones and MIDI together were a USB C hub with a headphone jack and USB out, or bluetooth MIDI. I choose bluetooth over USB because I didn't like the existing hub choices, and I didn't want a bunch of cables hanging off the side of my iPad.

It works. Easy to use. Extra cable included
Not only did they provide the Bluetooth adapter but also a usb cable as well which I found surprisingly convenient. This device works perfectly. No discernible latency. I just have to power the transmitter but it doesn't have to be powered by the device receiving the input. It can go into the wall, or a charge bank or my phone or even my laptop. This thing is amazing. A bit overpriced in my opinion but it works.

Requires some finagling, but awesome!
I use this to pair a Willians Legatto Plus keyboard with an iPad and it works great! I wish the seller had included the attached diagram explaining how to connect this thing. As others have mentioned, it doesnt always work right away for all apps - usually if it gets disconnected I first open the app "flowkey" (free version), open a song and select settings to pair the bluetooth. Then I can use the other app that I want "Notes Trainer" (free) and it shows up as an option for pairing. Once again not really plug and play but it works.

Using with Windows 10 is complicated
I tested the UD-BT01 adapter with a MUSTAR 61 Key Piano Keyboard, Light Up Keyboard Piano (the important feature being keys that light but not weighted keys) and a YAMAHA P71 88-Key Weighted Action Digital Piano. For IPad, it's not recognized as a device in the Bluetooth Settings. However, when I go into Synthesia, it is immediately recognized as a device that can be configured for input and output. Itโs simple to set up. Using the adapter with Windows is complicated. The adapter works with Bluetooth MIDI 4.0 on a computer with Windows 10 Anniversary Edition or later that has Bluetooth hardware. Most laptops already have Bluetooth. For a laptop or desktop without a Bluetooth device, purchase and install a USB Bluetooth Adapter, also known as a Bluetooth 4.0 Dongle Receiver (see https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B007Q45EF4 for the one Iโm using). 1. Install the Yamaha Wireless USB to Host MIDI Adapter. For the UD-BT01, plug one end of the cord (USB-B into the keyboard) and the other end (USB-A) into the adapter. Plug the adapter into an electrical outlet. 2. Download and install loopMidi. Click on the program to start it once every time you start Windows. You need to have two ports configured, by default loopMIDI Port and loopMIDI Port 1. If the ports donโt exist, click on the โ+โ in the lower left corner. Click โxโ, it will hide the program, and it will show up in the Windows tray. You can right click it to stop it. 3. Go to the Microsoft Store. Purchase and install MIDIberry-IO for UD-BT01 or MD-BT01 depending on which adapter you purchased. Run the program before starting your music program. Under INPUT to DAW, select the first loopMIDI port (by default loopMIDI Port). Under OUTPUT from DAW, select the second loopMIDI port (by default loopMIDI Port 1). Select the menu in the upper left, select the OUT radio button, and click on the displayed keyboard to test the MIDI keyboard. Minimize the program (leave it running). 4. In Synthesia, go to Settings, Music Devices, Music Input, loopMIDI Port (based on the configuration above), select Use input from this device, select Reset Note Range and play the bottom and top notes on the keyboard (if this works, then your keyboard is working). Select Music Output, loopMIDI Port 1 (based on the configuration above), set Send output to this device, go down to the bottom and click TEST to see that it is working and STOP. You should then be able to play a song to test it. 5. In Finale, select MIDI/Audio, Devices Setup, MIDI Setup, MIDI In loopMIDI port, MIDI out loopMIDI Port 1, OK. also select MIDI/Audio, Play Finale through MIDI. You should then be able to play your score to test it.

SAVE YOUR MONEY or AT LEAST *** SAVE THE PACKAGING ***
SAVE YOUR MONEY and wait 10 years for them to figure out how to make products. I have an N3X that I tried using it in What this product DOES: It lets you access the most painfully obvious product features that you can ALREADY access on your instrument with 1 or 2 button clicks It INSISTS on using your product's ONE USB B port. Making it useless for other needs It INSISTS on being in range of a standard power outlet USING UP that power outlet RESTRICTING where you can use it WHAT THIS PRODUCT DOES NOT DO: It does NOT free up your ONE USB B Port. It WILL NOT WORK IF YOU TRY USING a USB HUB It WILL NOT WORK if you try using your products USB A port -- even if this port provides power It WILL NOT free you from constraints of getting to another power outlet on your wall (it MUST have that) it WILL NOT allow the amplifier/speakers in your product to be used as standard stereo equipment over BlueTooth that you could perhaps send audio to from your smart phone IT DOES NOT do anything you would expect a halfway decent bluetooth audio device to do SAVE YOUR MONEY OR AT LEAST SAVE YOUR PACKAGING SO YOU CAN RETURN IT

Worked for me...
Using this UD-BT01 with a Yamaha DGX-660 and iPad mini 2. At first, plugged in to USB-to-Host jack with included usb cable, plugged in to spare AppleiPhone usb charger for power. Tried connecting through stock Bluetooth settings, but could not see device to connect to. Repeated with two other Apple devices, but same problem. Could not see the device. I saw JimE say he used MidiMittr from AppStore to connect, so I downloaded the app, and it saw the UD-BT01 and connected. Now we are able to use the iPad mini 2 with our music learning apps, Piano Adventures. We also tried some Yamaha apps and they worked fine with excellent two way midi communications. We did not detect any lag. Update:11/26/2016 Found the Yamaha FAQ which tells you to install the Yamaha Visual Performer app and use that to connect to the UB-BT01, then the other MIDI apps will see it on your iPhone and iPad. [...] And a good assortment of Yamaha apps available too.

Wireless communication between ipad/iphone
This product is very good. You need to download the Yamaha digital controller to connect to the ipad/iphone first. There is no latency. Donโt connect with bluetooth speaker โcause you will get latency. You can use more than one (piano) app at the same time and it works.

Volume loss on connecting!
While the dongle connects easily and there is no perceptible lag, there is a significant volume loss compared to wired MIDI cable arrangement. Also, when you increase the volume to compensate the loss there is hisss sound in the background
