The Wright Products Lanai Screen Door Package is a bit of a split decision. First, the good: the handle is fantastic. Solid feel, smooth action, and it looks sharp against our exterior—definitely a 5-star component. It’s the kind of handle that makes you feel like your screen door is part of a well-built home, not a flimsy afterthought. Now the not-so-good: the spring tension system. I wanted the door to close slowly and gently, especially with pets and kids darting around. But when you max out the tension to get that soft-close effect, the screw just doesn’t hold. It loosens over time, and I’ve had to re-tighten it more times than I care to admit. It’s like the spring is saying, “Sure, I’ll help… but only for a little while.” For the price, I expected better durability on the mechanical side. If they beefed up the tension screw or added a locking mechanism, this would be an easy 5-star package. As it stands, it’s a great-looking setup with a handle that deserves applause—but the spring needs a pep talk.

This is an easy kit to install. Especially if it’s replacing existing hardware. The only reason I gave it 4 stars is that the locking mechanism and handle are a bit on the cheaply constructed side. It doesn’t have a spring loaded latch bar to secure the latch itself. Just a cheap aluminum plate and it wouldn’r work with the existing spring latch. Beyond that i’ve no complaints. It closes the door and secures it properly. Note to people unaware of how to install the handle. The metal shaft that passes through the door that the push button uses to open the latch will probably need to be cut. There are several scores on the long plate where you simply use two pairs of pliers and break the plate down to the proper size so the latch screws together properly and the buttons will function correctly.

Sadly Here In Florida bc we go through the Screen doors around the Pool many times a day we wear these out after 5 years or so , but WE exceed the average family usage of these, we may open and close all 3 of our Doors 20xs a day so 5 years to me im OK with. OLD MAN KNOWS SCREEN DOORS...LOL

Bought the Wright Lanai Corrosion Resistant Storm and Screen Door Kit to replace old hardware on my South Florida Pool Deck Aluminum Screen Door. Overall, I was somewhat disappointed in the quality of this kit. My old hardware used stainless bit and pieces and was a bit more substantial. Unfortunately, the decal was missing so I don't know who made it other than it was made in Taiwan, which I feel is usually of better quality than many Chinese products like this new kit. Not all of the mounting holes lined up which is to be expected with a different brand. However, the three 3/8" holes for the handle on the vertical 2-inch-wide stile of my door did not line up at all and it was not possible to drill new holes so the latch would work with my aluminum door. Make sure your door frame is wide enough to work.

Part of the closer mechanism broke on a lanai door. I found the part that broke for $10 so I figured I would just update the whole thing for only a little more money. It took less than 30 minutes to change everything out and it works great. Could not be happier with the purchase.

Missing the spring was unable to install. Hardware to attach gas shock to door was plastic not sure how great that will be in prairie winters Make sure you look closely the frame part for the closer can only be attached to a 90° wrap around so it cant go in-between a storm door and steel door either.
