Does it matter what kind of coffee I use?

Use your favorite kind. The finer the coffee the ground, the slower it will brew, imparting richer, deeper flavors.

Does it matter what kind of filters I use?

We love the brown Melitta filters as they do not pass on any flavor to the coffee in our opinion, but you can use other filters if you wish.

Should I fold the filter?

Yes, it is best to crimp the side and bottom seams. The side of the Melitta box shows you exactly how to do this to optimize flow through the filter.

Is the pour over dish washer safe?

Absolutely. We hand wash ours but if running a load, we always throw it in.

What is the best temperature of water to use? Boiling water?

It is actually best to be a few degrees below boiling. Once the water boils, we wet the filter, let it drain into the cup to warm it (an ounce or so), then pour it out and spoon in the coffee. By then the water is the perfect temp.
