Sturdy drive case
Installed a spare 1TB SSD and all is good. Using it for file transfers between Mac's & PCs. Nice build quality and having the permanent USB-C cable attached is a useful touch. Having purchased a number of cheaper drive cases with mixed results, I can say it's worthwhile to spend a little bit more on the Ineo.

Customer Service issues
REVISED ReviewOut of the box the unit did not work as instructed. It came with instructions that essentially said plug in the drive, close the unit, and plug in the computer. Windows did not recognize the HHD (hard disk) in the enclosure. When I called the phone number on the box (the only place listed) for ineo it just rang and rang, then finally went to voicemail. I tried multiple days... weekdays. No calls were ever returned. Zero customer service. Then I wrote a 1 star review and suddenly I start getting emails. The issue was diagnosed by technicians I work with (not ineo) which had to do with cloning my HDD to a SSD, which also cloned an identical disk ID. Windows needed this ID changed to load the HDD in the enclosure. I had multiple emails with this company helping them to understand the issue. They now seem to understand the issue and they should be able to assist other customers if this issue effects them. This company ask me to revise my original 1 star review, so I am. I bring this now to three stars. I give this three stars for the following reasons:1) Customer Service. They told me that the reason they did not return my calls was that their colleague was out of the office for a few days. They never returned my calls. They only contacted me through Amazon email after my 1 star review. So, my customer service assessment is still 1 star. The company appears to be just a few people marketing an imported product.2) Tech Support. I had to have multiple emails with them to explain the issue and how my technicians and I diagnosed the problem ourselves. Additionally, it took more emails to get them to understand the fix. To their credit, they finally got it and they claim they have found an easy fix through Windows utilities to address the problem without resorting to a CMD prompt. So, if you have a problem with their unit regarding a cloned hard drive, they should be able to walk you through fixing it. Tech support 2 stars.3) Engineering. This unit seems to be very well made and works well, after proper configuration. Looks like it will be a safe and durable unit. The cable does not look replaceable, so that may be an issue later on. Four stars.4) Documentation. Zero user manual or pointers to online help. 1 starBottom line: I give the ineo company, their customer service, and their product an overall 3 star rating. If you have a non-cloned disk drive, it should work out-of-the-box. If you don't, good luck if you are not technical.

Just Impressive
I had an extra Samsung 860 EVO SSD that I wanted to turn into an external USB-C drive so I thought I'd give this product a shot - I'm glad I did.My main concerns when researching were the drive rattling around in the enclosure, durability, and speed. This enclosure passed with flying colors.I first noticed that it was extremely well-constructed and looked very rugged without being too bulky. putting the drive in was easy and when installed, it was very secure. One thing of note is that the SSD I put in is thinner than most 2.5" drives, so I was delighted to find a foam pad in the packaging that adheres to the inside of the silver casing to make sure it is secure. This was a nice touch. After I got the drive installed (took about 2 minutes), I proceeded to shake, rattle, drop and step on the enclosure. I am pleased to report that there was no rattle at all, nor any damage. The drive is very firmly held and I'm confident this enclosure will last a very long time and stand up to abuse from travel and drops. As far as performance, it is as fast as if the drive was installed internally in a SATA port. The speed test meets the drive's rated performance through sequential read and write tests, even with low block sizes and other rigorous tests. I was able to move a 10GB file from the desktop of my MacBook Pro and back in a matter of seconds.Lastly, the cable built into the unit is very high quality. It wraps around the enclosure very nicely and I don't have any concerns about the longevity or durability of the cable itself.Overall, this is an extremely high quality enclosure and I would recommend it to anyone. I'm excited to try out their NVMe enclosure soon.I will update if I find any issues with the long-term durability of the enclosure, but if there is not an update, you can assume it's performing as stated here.

Gen 2 significantly faster
By mistake, I ordered the USB 3.0 version. It's a nice enclosure, so I kept it and ordered a USB 3.1 by another manufacturer. It was slower than expected, and my Mac identified it as USB 3.0. I discovered when an enclosure is advertised as USB 3.1 Gen 1, that's essentially USB 3.0.I ordered another Ineo, this time USB 3.1 Gen 2. It is faster than USB 3.0. The box and cable are dandy. The blue light shows me when it's being accessed. With Gen 2, the limit seems to be the SATA interface. Maybe one day I'll get a Gen 2 enclosure for a PCIe SSD.
