This is a great set for a little constructor. My 3.5 years old son loves constructing complex stuff with toys therefore to encourage him we have purchased many sets for him (legos, mega blocks, thistle blocks, quercetti tubes) Each offer different fun but this one stands out being the most mobile one. It comes with 95 hard plastic pieces, some are to construct the base plate while another group is to carry the fun to the third dimension (the upright sticks) The rest of the pieces are colorful interdenting gears. Finally it has two handle bits which you need to move the gears round and round. You can put the gears and sticks in various combinations (gears on the side of sticks or sticks on top of gears or gears on top of each other etc.) After some trial and error experience with me (my son and I) we figured out the way they should be aligned to transfer a horizontal rotation to a vertical one. Then my son took over and started building interesting combinations. I am sure he will master it in time. My experience is that the parts are a little stiff which is good for non wobbling steady rotation but bad for the little one to stick them together. So younger children may need some help from the parents. The price ($30) is good considering the number of pieces. Each piece comes to around 30 cents which is lower than many other construction toys. (better than quercetti and lego duplos but slightliy worse than mega blocks.) Besides the storage can is a real good advantage to store it properly after play time. This toy set offers good fun for the little one and helps develop his/her fine motor skills as well as supporting the imagination. Yet it might be difficult to operate or master for younger children. I recommend it to anyone who is after a good toy set at a decent price...

I got these for my 3 year old. He loves them. They let kids be so creative and teach them how to build and turn gears. Highly recommend for creative littles!

Awesome toy for a 5 year old. My grandson played with this at his pediatrician visit. He seemed to really enjoy it so I purchased it for his 5 year birthday. He built a robot. I was really impressed and the gears all work together. He loves it!

My 4yo enjoyed this a lot. It's engaged him good enough that he forgot I existed for awhile. It is solidly made. However, when participating play with him, I noticed that it's all the same size gear. They don't catch each other well (if at all) when trying a climbing structure, which does limits the type of play they can do quite a bit and overall fairly disappointing. That means the gears have to be vertical or horizontal to each other in order to move. Not sure if anyone other impressions of what they might be able to do with or, so I am just clarifying it.

Fun for 5 year old boy. Helps spark creativity. Durable, easy to use.

My grandson pulls it out when he visits. He likes the round pieces that he uses as wheels.

Endless hours of play and endless creations to be made. My children love this so much that I had to purchase a second one of these so the creations could be even more intense. Highly recommend for open ended play and imagination/engineering building

El juego es chulo pero mi hijo (acaba de hacer 5 años) empezó a jugar, le gustó pero enseguida se cansó. Solo jugó un rato ese primer día. No le llama mucho de momento. Quizá es un poco aburrido comparado con otros juegos de construcción.

Ces engrenages ont permis de faire des ateliers en classe dans des situations très attrayantes pour les enfants. Il faut prévoir au moins deux boîtes de jeux pour une classe. Il faudrait par contre un peu plus de supports de base (seulement 8 dans une boîte) quand il est utilisé comme nous le faisons dans le contexte scolaire. Par contre tout à fait adapté dés 4-5 ans pour jouer avec des adultes en famille.
