Contoure Modern Cat Tree Tower (unfinished birch)

I decided to purchase this cat tree, despite some of the reviews indicating that it was a little shaky. Now that my tree is assembled, I don't quite know why the other reviewers were unhappy with its stability. I have a Refined Feline Lotus Tree, and (unfortunately) one of those widely available & ugly carpeted cat condos, and this Contoure Tower doesn't shake or wobble anymore than my others. Yes, when my 15 lb fat cat jumps up to the top, it shakes a little, but no more so than my other cat furniture, so I'm not sure if the other customers haven't had cat trees before? The only reason I can fathom that other people may have had a problem is that when assembling the pieces together, you're not supposed to screw everything together tightly UNTIL all parts are connected (then the screws can be tightened fully), so I can imagine that if someone did not do that, the connecting joints may have been loosened when trying to put everything together.Overall, I'm glad I trusted my instincts and purchased this tower. My cats love the views it gives them, and it's modern simplicity goes with my decor, so I am very happy with this piece of furniture. The price is very reasonable, compared with other similar products, and I would happily recommend this to anyone w/ cats who like heights.

I got this cat tree because I wanted something more appealing than the standard carpet-covered cardboard for my living room. And it was important that the cats be able to be taller than me when sitting on it. This fits the bill.It was really easy to assemble, although I did have to go back and mark some of the guide holes for the screws that didn't quite go all the way through. It's not at all shaky, not sure where that criticism comes from. I did manage to break off one of the feet, and until I fixed that it was unstable, but that's hardly the product's fault -- I should have gotten a second person to help move it around after taking it to the garage to stain the wood.And that ties into the reason this isn't a 5-star review. The picture shows a nicely finished product, but the item is, as the description says, unfinished. It really needs to be stained and varnished in order to look as nice as I wanted. No surprise, it was billed as unfinished. However, it's really hard to stain the wood around the carpet and not get stain on the carpet itself. I tried taping and covering it with plastic wrap, with moderate success, but it was really a pain. YMMV, but be prepared to put a good bit of time and effort into turning this into a presentable piece of furniture.

I have 3 ContempCat trees and I love them all. I adopted a small Persian cat from the shelter who is a little terror with scratching everything in her path. She has managed to claw through the glued on carpet down into the wood shelf. Yes, I trim her nails but it doesn't stop the damage. I've reached out to the company dozens of times to inquire about buying replacement shelves for their cat trees. I was promised once they would reach out to me but they never did. If you have a cat who loves to scratch, buy the shelves without carpet and velcro cheap carpet to the shelves that you can replace. Its impossible to remove the carpet that comes with the tree without destroying the wood underneath.

I looked at a lot of modern non carpet trees on line and decided to purchase the Contoure Modern Cat Tree - I am so glad that I did and so are my cats! It is so unique and has a small footprint so it is not overwhelming even though it is 6 ' tall. My cats absolutely love it! I have more than 4 cats so when all four levels are full when one jumps off another cat quickly takes its place. I had some work done in my kitchen yesterday (where the cat tree is) and normally my cats run and hide when someone enters the house - they did not budge from the cat tree!The customer service is great - the base was a little bit off in color from the rest of the tree and I was shipped out a new base (at no cost to me) right away that matches perfectly.

Great quality and artfully designed. Only problem is that is doesn’t balance so well. When my cat jumps off the tower it rocks back and forth, nearly tipping over. Going to try small sandbags or something at the base to prevent this. Not caused by putting it together wrong or anything. All is right and study with the parts. Just think the center of gravity is a bit odd. Again, really love the look of the stand and it’s made with quality material, so I can’t knock it down more than 4 stars.

With regard to shakiness, that's a big concern. I actually had a kitten die years ago as a result of a cat tree tipping over. From that point forward, I place a cinder block (or two, depending on the area available) across the bottom of the tree. May not look great but it steadies the tree...

I finished mine with wood conditioner and wheat stain and an amber danish oil varnish. It looks really great in our mid century modern house. The pieces all fit together really well and it is very sturdy. It looks like fine furniture and it is easy to keep clean and polished. This tree replaced a Lotus cat tree that always looked like junk and showed every scratch and hair. The cats seem to like it, but they took a while to warm up to it.

Great piece. Easy to assemble and everyone compliments us on it and asks where we got it.
