Will i be a able to utilize the aptx hd streaming if my phone (iphone) is not aptx compatible?

no. APTX and APTX HD require both ‘ends’ to follow the same protocol. Same is true for transmit mode( your BT headphones would need to be APTX HD compatible too). Worst case is that both ends use baseline standard SBC protocol.

Does anyone use this as a preamp? I have a vintage amp and would like to have a remote and listen to headphones without turning on my Sansui.

You could use the Sub Out to feed your vintage amp. Just make sure the Sub Out Filter is set to off.

Does the D 3045 allow a connected PC to record audio from analog line in?

Great question.. Usually, you would connect a Pc to the D3045 using USB. The USB input does not send audio back out to the computer so you would not be able to record from a turntable in this configuration..

Does the hdmi-arc connection control the volume natively? (note: my tv's remote is rf and not ir so it cannot be "learned" by the 3045)

Yes with HDMI ARC you can control the volume with the tv. The amp with turn on/off with the TV as well
