This is an alright dual-band adapter. Installation was very easy. Literally plug-n-play. Packaging and shipping was good and even arrived earlier than expected. I would have to say the most startling thing about the adapter is its size. It's pretty small. Like 2 inches or so. As a result, you might not get the full signal strength as a larger adapter. Still, it pulls in the local Wifi hotspot good enough that I can use that being roughly at least a half mile away which gives me the option of using that should our home service go out. The #1 reason for wanting this. As far as speed, it's alright, but I'm disappointed it's not faster in some respects. For example, on our 2.4G modem/router unit, it's like the speed caps out at 42 Mbps. Fast enough, but my 12+ year old single band adapter reaches into the low 60 Mbps range. Using the 5G band on the nearby Wifi hotspot results in a similar experience, less than stellar sometimes but still quite good enough usually. The best performance this adapter gets is on our Belkin dual-band router we have attached to the modem. On that it gets upwards of 80-82 Mbps speeds, which is nice for gaming and streaming. No idea why the 2.4G speeds are so low when the connection is capable of nearly double that. I can only surmise it could be the antenna size or perhaps location. As far as drivers, the adapter worked fine after plugging in and letting Windows do its thing. I also tried the latest reference drivers off the RealTek website as well as getting the actual latest package for this adapter from the EDUB site which I'm currently using as it has some nice features built in. With the speeds I mentioned above, all the speeds were relatively the same regardless of drivers used. Overall I'm satisfied with the product and intend to keep it. If I ever did decide to upgrade to a larger antenna model, then this will make a great backup or a great adapter for my old laptop. So yeah, it does what it says it does, just don't be startled by it's small size. It does work. The only knock I'd give it is in reference to the lower than expected speeds/signal, but otherwise it's fine and I've been using it for both streaming and gaming with success.

Bought this because my old laptop didn't have wifi anymore. Chose this one because it was plug n play and it was cheaper than others I needed to download drivers to use. That would be hard to do without internet. This one came in a really nice box and it came with an antenna. I just plugged it in and hit the wifi button in my task bar and it showed my router. Put in pw and was up and running. It showed both 4G and 5G for my router and chose 5G. It's working perfectly. I'm about 25 feet from my router and am not using the antenna. Have perfect signal. It has a flashing blue light showing signal strength which kind of drives me nuts. I just cut a small piece of painter's tape and put over it. Problem solved. It does not come with paper instructions but has a qvc code to get them and to download driver if needed. I didn't need any of that. This little adapter is so easy to use and is made well. I highly recommend them. Only complaint I have is I was promised 2 day shipping and got it in 4 days. This had nothing to do with the seller. It was strictly an Amazon issue.

Update, 08/02/ 2019 The 4 stars are for customer service, the adapter itself I give a 2. After the second one failed, seller again sent a credit for a replacement after I sent pictures of non functioning adapter. I decided to buy a different model. I applaud the seller for their commitment to customer service. They always got back to me and made it right. It's just that the product does not seem to have any longetivity in fuctioning properly. Some of it may be the design, an antenna sticking out of the laptop and getting taken in and out a lotp. The adapter was loose in the usb ports, leading to frequent disconnects. Perhaps a tighter fitting model might work better and longer. I decided to buy one without antenna sticking out. Edited review: 2/2019: Received full credit from seller for a new adapter. Thank you. Repurchased the same adapter. Edited Review: After 4 months of light use, the thing died yesterday. Completely. No amount of trouble shooting brought it back. I am waiting for the seller's response to a request for exchange or refund and will update my review according to the actions, or lack thereof, the seller takes. This is supposed to have a lifetime warranty. IUpdate number 2: The new one the seller sent me worked for 3 months, then started not working intermittently, now its dead. They seem to have a working time line of 3 to 4 months. When they do work they work well. Original review: I bought a new modem and router for my comcast home WIFI and my three older laptops did not have the software/hardware to take advantage of the 5G band width/higher internet speeds. I bought this to upgrade these 3 laptops. Set up on Win 7 was quick and easy with the enclosed software cd. The network dongle was recognized immediately after re-starting. Speed increased from 110Mbps to 430Mbps on my in-home WiFi. Cannot comment on durability yet. This is an easy, worthwhile upgrade for older laptops. I'm very satisfied with this product.

Fit perfectly and so very easy to install and implement

Just because I don't want to have to rewrite another review (Amazon rejected my original one, possibly due to slightly bad language), I'm just gonna paste the email that I just wrote to this company's customer support email. Hopefully that will explain enough: I ordered this WIFI adapter and installed it into my MacBook as instructed with the CD. I then restarted my computer and looked in my applications folder, and nothing was there (as the instructions clearly state there should be). I was very confused, so I reinstalled the software like two or three more times, and again, I couldn't find a trace anywhere on my hard drive. So I returned the adapter and went on with my life, and three days later, I found an icon for the adaptor on the top toolbar of my computer. Again, I searched everywhere on my hard drive for anything I could delete, and I tried every possible method to erase it off my toolbar, and I wasn't able to do anything about it. I just recently even contacted Apple support, and the technician I talked to tried several different methods to help me, but in the end he gave up and said I would probably just have to contact you directly. The only thing is I already tried to contact you through Amazon (where I bought the item), and I received no response. Can I please get some help to erase ALL traces of this item from my MacBook COMPLETELY. As you can imagine, it has not been a good experience buying this item or trying to get customer support for it, and I intend to make that clear in my Amazon review. Thank you. EDIT: I’ve gone to the Apple Store personally to meet with technicians, and they can’t figure it out either. I’ve written at least 2 more emails to multiple EDUP email addresses since I posted my original reviews and still no response. This is a terrible product and an even worse company. I have windows 10 desktop and wanted to upgrade my older small usb thumb TP Link 2.4MHz mainly to add the 5.8MHz but also figured stronger reception with Antenna unit. I downloaded latest drivers since they had dedicated Win 10 driver. Driver installed slow but ok. Unit works ok except for fact that it will not connect to my additional WIFI extender unit, which actually shows better signal. This is odd since all my other devices connect to this extender just fine just entering the main TP Link dual band router security code. Not sure why. Also the signals are not that strong considering the unit is only about 30 feet from router almost line of sight. I would say it does not work much better than my old cheap thumb WIFI adapter - but since it adds 5GHZ capability that is ok. WiFi analyzer shows 150 MBPS router speed for the 5GHZ, I do not know enough about that to know whether it good. Interesting that MS Store wifi app shows 5 GHz stronger than 2.4 - odd compared to all my other devised but I don't mind that since using 5GHZ is not used on my other more distant devices. But it seems to run ok so 3 stars - similar to older small thumb unit.

Da ich nicht immer das Firmennotebook hin und her schleppen wollte und außerdem lieber an einem richtigen PC arbeite, habe ich mir für zu Hause einen kleinen PC gerichtet. Dieser hatte aber kein WLAN. An meinem Homeoffice Arbeitsplatz ist kein Netzwerkanschluß verfügbar. Also musste eine USB-WLAN-Lösung her. Windows 10 hat das Gerätchen ohne mein zutun installiert. Meine anfängliche Skepsis war schnell verflogen. Selbst Videokonferenzen mit "Teams" oder Skype sind problemos möglich! -> Empfehlung!

J’ai acheté cet adaptateur wifi USB que j’associe avec une antenne Yagi 16 éléments. Je testerai le gain global lors d’un séjour dans un environnement montagneux à proximité d’un spot Wifi peu musclé. Je dois me coller dessus pour me connecter. J’aurai à couvrir 100 mètres en vue directe. Je croise les doigts.
