Maybe? You would want to do a very light coat and then stick it onto a different surface several times so the adhesive isn't as strong. it's not going to be able to be very sticky or you will ruin the paper in your journal. Test on plain paper before you try it in your journal.

Will this product help with preventing bleed out when applying paint to the Mylar stencil? If not any recommendations?

Yes, when sprayed lightly on the back of mylar stencils this will help create a seal to keep paint from bleeding. We also recommend a dry brush or dry roller technique to prevent bleeding.
