The Book Of Enoch

A good read for Christ seekers and eschatology readers. I do encourage before this read that you read the Bible first for a basis of true understanding.

This is a work which needs to be read carefully, with lots of supporting information. Very controversial and historical work, this Enoch, context is very important. This version is simple, not much support. If reading this for the first time, with little other information on this work, I would seek a more scholarly version. Something that will put this work into context, historically, spiritually, Literarily. I have personally found the books by Ken Johnson ThD., To be informative, comprehensive, and to be from an appreciable perspective. To that end, Dr. Johnson has a version of the Book of Enoch. It's one of the best versions I've seen thus far.

This is a Book that is well written and aligns nicely with the Bible. Many things said in this book reflect the Bible in its entirety except a few things that may need more clarity. This book should be read be those who read the bible daily. This book has many truths and detailed descriptions on: fashion, war, astrology, the fallen angelic watchers, souls, sinner. It is amazing, read for yourself. This book may get some negative feedback, but I believe this book was hidden for a reason further passed our own understanding.

This is a fascinating book. It's mentioned in the Bible, but unlike the Bible we can't say that it's 100% correct and protected against corrupt input. The fact that it's mentioned in the Bible gives it some credence to me, but we probable wont know for sure until we're with the Lord ourselves. It's from old, so it's a little hard to follow and absorb it all in, but the information in it is amazing. The small amount of the Book of Moses that's available to us is at the end of this book.

I've been wanting to read the book of Enoch for some time, and it did not disappoint, very interesting book.

Great book

Enoch is not part of the Bible. In fact, much of what is in it does not match what is in the Hebrew Bible or the New Testament. It is filled with superstitious ideas. I Enoch was composed sometime around 200 BCE. The third century was a period of enormous distress for Jews, and the masses, unable to help themselves, sought an explanation for the evil around them and prayed for supernatural aid. Enoch was not unique in differing from mainstream Judaism. The writings of the times did not generally reflect mainstream Jewish thinking and contained many borrowed terms from non-Jewish sources. I Enoch, for example, is the first book that interprets Genesis 6 as a description of fallen angels. It describes a group of angels who descend to earth because of a sexual lust for earthly women. They defile their pure heavenly essence by joining with the women and having children who are giants. They teach their wives and children knowledge that humans should not have, such as the ability to write and the process of performing abortions. Their children befoul the earth and lead to the flood in the days of Noah.

Arrived in great condition, fast shipping. Prob will enjoy the book. However, as soon as I open the book I see this clown statement by some woke publishing company. Pretty ironic that this book, associated with the Scriptures, has this statement plastered in the front. What a joke...

A large portion of this book is about the flood of Noah & the 144000 that will reside in heaven with the Ancient Of Days. It provides alot more succinct detail about pre flood events. It corrisponds perfectly with the message of the Bible & gives a clearer picture of what's going to happen soon in our future great tribulation. This book was written pre flood & to date, all of the prophecies have happened in our recorded history with the exception of the last days, the days of judgement. The hope of mankind is that the righteous will inhabit the Earth. I have no desire to be in heaven. I hope my family & I will be some of them.

Good book for this price.

I was always intrigued by "The Book of Enoch" having seen it briefly quoted and mentioned in enigmatically in some Bible footnotes. I decided I would see for myself what it contained. The main "plot" of the book may already be known, the focus is on the supposed times of the pre-flood patriarch Enoch, who, according to Genesis, did not die a natural death but was "taken" by God. A brief verse in Genesis 6:1-2 is expanded to explain how fallen angels left the heavenly abode and mated with human women, thus be-getting "Nephilim"- who would lead humanity to the corruption that moved God to flood the world. Much detail is given about the names of the various angels and the forbidden knowledge which they taught, curiously enough, The Satan isn't mentioned, but a group called "the satans" are, also the serpent which tempted Eve is named as the fallen angel Gadreel. This demonstrates that the dualism present in later Judaism has not yet fully developed.The later Jewish apocalyptic writer (or group of writers and later editors) perhaps wrote this in response to curiosity about the enigmatic character of Enoch - although I tend to want to believe it was based on genuine mystical revelation. It was common in Old Testament and New Testament times for authors to go under the pseudonym of a great and revered figure- this wasn't always seen as deceptive and the writers would do it with good intentions. It has to be said that the book was never considered part of the Jewish canon, some prominent later Jewish rabbis were appalled at the notion of angels mating with women, so the idea has to be seen as an interpretation by perhaps a minority group rather than being an accepted general Jewish belief. However, the early Christians were a different matter. The book was highly regarded for its messianic prophecies and the frequent use of the term "Son of Man". I found these chapters very fascinating and can see why the early Christians saw their Christ in the portraits of the "Righteous One". Indeed, the New Testament Epistle of Jude quotes from Enoch, leading some Christians to call for it to be re-evaluated in modern times, although there are arguments for and against its inclusion in the Christian canon. I would say that the least engaging chapter for me, was the astronomical one, only because it seems very obscure, but it is quite short. The text is in the style of the "Authorised Version" of the Bible, being originally translated in 1893, but it is a regarded translation nonetheless. Also there is an absence of an index or table of contents, which would have been better if included, but the text is divided into sub-headings. Overall, a fascinating read for those interested in extra-Biblical books, the influences which shaped early Christianity and those who are interested in mystical texts.
