What length is the cable?

The cable in total is a good six feet long. The temperature controller is 2 feet from the heating pad and then 4 feet of cable to the plug.

Can i lay on this as i cant lay on my front

Yes you can it shits off after 45 minutes

The picture makes it look like there are 14 heating elements in the back. Can anyone confirm how many there are?

The heating coil loops in a zigzag about 2.5cm apart so there is sufficient heat coverage. I don't know how many "elements" there are. I highly recommend the vest. I use it daily to ease fibromyalgia pain.

Why does heat pad control start flashing after 30 minutes regardless of which setting I have it on?

That is a safety feature. It shuts off automatically in case you fall asleep wearing the heating vest.
