Is this a real Silpat or a knock off?

i bought mine "ships from/sold by Amazon" and its fake. also disappointing is that now Amazon wants me to return it. i hope this is to document that it isn't real, but its definitely an inconvenience, after already being inconvenienced with a bad product. if you haven't had a silpat before (to be able to notice the difference), i would pass on this one.

my silpat is sticky when clean why?

Live dangerously, put it in the dishwasher.  I use my Silpats with lots of recipes with olive oil, they feel extra greasy because of that. With it I don't have to handle the slippery Silpat or have it touch any other dishes in my cupboard.   I used to jerry rig them in the dishwasher but now I use the Mat Rack, it's just simpler.   One less thing to hand wash after dinner and I love the convenience of taking it directly from the dishwasher and storing it my tall cupboard next to my baking sheets.

Question 3

Does the Silpat stain?  I bought a generic brand and it stains after one use and I can't get the stains out.  Just wondering if they all do this?

Your Silpat will eventually turn a brownish color after using it a lot. Your Silpat will still be nonstick and safe to keep using. I've had customers who have had their Silpat for 10 years and it's almost black! Still used it and it worked just fine. Some people have found that if it's not too dark, you can put it in the sun and it will lighten up again. Is it stained in one spot or all over? We guarantee our Silpats for 2 years as long as you use it correctly. No broiling (480 degrees is as high as you should go) and no sharp utensils. I hope this helps!

Artisan Mat VS Silpat Baking Mat?? What's the difference, which is better and does the artisan also have tiny holes like the silpat baking mat?

I do not have an Artisan mat, only a silpat.  Mine does not have tiny holes in it.  I bake everything I can on it and pop it on the top shelf of my dishwasher.  Because I like my chicken, pork, and fish crispy, I brown and then bake on low oven to finish.  Cookies turn out perfect, unlike days in past where they were a little browner or burnt where I could taste it.  LOVE MY SILPAT and have bought for all my family members along with nice cookie sheet and cookies as gift for Christmas.
