I’m not going to try to be clever about this. Bought it because of the movie tie-in, have always used hairspray but this is so much better. Holds my hair well without the helmet head I used to have. I actually stopped a persistent cough I had that I now attribute to the daily dose of hairspray. I must also agree that the pleasing odor IS half the point. Sorry, couldn’t help myself.

Works great for short hair for a good style

The pleasing odor is half the point!Unfortunately, mine doesn’t actually smell much at all. So that is a bummer but not a deal breaker.What’s important is how well it holds up my hair, and it does a dandy job, albeit not for very long. I’d compare the strength and longevity in hair with that of American Crew Fiber.Remember to rub the product in your hands until it warms up a bit, THEN distribute evenly in your hair and style. Otherwise this gets chunky and goopy.Love the tin.I’d love to insert a O Brother Where Art Thou reference here, but many clever folks already did that so, damn I’m in a tight spot.

I normally don't use hair products, as I was in the military for 20 years and wearing a hat all the time defeated the purpose of hair products. Now that I'm out, I want to try different hairstyles.To be honest, I wanted to try Dapper Dan because of the movie O, Brother, Where Art Thou? Great marketing tool. However, I also wanted to try it because it's made in England and, quite frankly, European and Japanese products tend to be of higher quality than other items.I am not disappointed. Pomades are known to cause acne in some people, but I haven't had a problem so far. I suspect this is because this product is a paste and not a true pomade. A little goes a long way, but you can always add more if you want more hold or to ensure all your hair is covered, but it's really not necessary.The paste stays in all day but washes out with just water without leaving residue. The matte finish is good for those who don't like a high-shine. It is also flexible in that you can touch your hair and not expect the paste to "break" like gels or similar products.At my current rate of use, I expect a single tin to last several months, so you do get good value for your money.

The Dapper Dan paste is fine. It looks and holds well. The smell is very subtle. The best part is remembering George Clooney asking for Dapper Dan in Oh Brother Where Art Thou!!

Smells great and holds strong. Ran a Spartan race and 6 miles in and several under water obstacles and hair held great! It is a strong hold but without that hard and crusty feeling you get from most. It's all I use now. Ive left it in once or twice over night and all you have to do is wet it a little and it's good to go! It washes out easy and doesn't leave a film. I've used hair care products off and on and I love this stuff

This product works well for my hair type and style. Great hold without looking greasy. The scent is on the strong side, but it's pleasant and not overpowering once applied. My major complaint is that I can't seem to get a can of Matt Paste that isn't severely damaged. They're shipped in thinly padded, or unpadded paper envelopes. The last one I received was nearly unopenable, but recycling my previous lid saved it. This one is crimped closed and partially smashed. I have sent a message to the store, so hopefully I'll get a response. Great product, terrible shipping practices.
