SABRENT USB 3.0 Enclosure for 2.5” and 3.5” Internal SATA Hard

I was very impressed with this little box. It did everything it claims to do easily. The fit and finish here is excellent; drives snapped right into place, regardless of size, there were no rough edges, and it was easy to pull apart and put back together, and my older files popped up right away. No issues at all. Great for the price.

I've had mine for almost 2 months and have used it several times. Quality is what I expected, brushed metal finish with good accurate machine cuts all around. The cables it comes with are solid and it's nice to have the complimentary philips head and 4 screws to secure your drive if need be. Bridge is great too, I don't have testing data but it has worked great with 3 different HDD's at different speeds (5200 RPM). Would absolutely recommend. P.S: The one single thing I wish this unit or a more expensive variation of this unit would have is a built-in Write Blocking Feature. I think we're at the point in time where an additional $30-50 dollars for a switch that performs the function could be added. I own a similar product with an effective Write Blocker but doesn't have an enclosure, I made my choice between the safety of the drive and integrity of the data. Hard Call!

I am using this enclosure with a 28TB Seagate Exos SATA HDD. No issues with the capacity, I set up the drive using Minitool Partition Wizard as GPT, NTFS, a single 28TB partition, used with a Windows 11 PC. Installation was easy. The case opens by pressing the large button, the drive inserts easily and the provided screws and screwdriver keep it secure. Note: this button serves as the power and activity light. The actual power is a switch on the back. SMART data is accessible via CrystalDiskInfo. Seagate's Seatools will not detect the drive in this enclosure. Therefore the disclaimer in the product description that SMART is not supported is partially true. It depends on the application trying to access the data. I am using the 28TB drive for backups. It is not intended to run 24 / 7. The temperature on the drive after several hours use is 53C. This is within spec for the drive which maxes at 60C. For comparison, a 10TB Lacie D2 Professional, a 16TB Lacie D2 Professional and an 18TB Iron Wolf in a similar enclosure from another vendor are all also hitting 53C after hours of use. Therefore, the heat dissipation is no better or worse than these fanless alternatives. Overall the performance is fine after two weeks of use. Given the price of a new Lacie D2 Professional and the design of the various plastic housing external drives, this enclosure is well suited to a bring your own drive situation.

There are really only three drive enclosures. 1) $25 SABRENT USB 3.0 Enclosure using the same cable and port supporting 3.2 USB, this cheap everything 3.0 controller falls to 25X slower USB 2.0. Well made, highly rated, and popular but you get what you pay for. 2) $60 prosumer CENMATE 2 Bay USB 3.2 Gen 2 with upgraded everything BUT power (sigh). It's a true cage, but barely. Needs better power. Under heavy load, voltage ripple can cause disconnects or throttling. 3) $150 TERRAMASTER D4-320 4bay USB 3.2 Gen2 has premium everything. You can pay more than double but you can't get more. Most popular best buy. You can run multi‑TB formatting, parity rebuilds, and multi‑drive workloads without the controller or power collapsing. Out of two dozen drive manufacturers, only three remain. I just bought found 2013 old tank Toshiba 3Ts for this (and a new Seagate Ironwolf 8T) and I don't expect to buy HDDs again in my life (large SSDs are ridiculous today). I bought mine directly as cheaper than from Amazon. 4) $195 Synology 2-Bay DiskStation DS223j is an example of paying more and getting less than TERRAMASTER D4-320. Underpowered ARM SoC, slow bus, network, everything. As a NAS, maybe for light use. As a DAS, it is inferior to the TERRAMASTER. I kept the SABRENT. I returned the Synology.

It work just like an external hard drive. A little cheap than an external hard drive. Set up is easy. However, you will have to go into you computer settings to get you computer to acknowledge your new drive. Don't assume that something is defective simply because the computer doesn't list the new drive.

Product was easy to assemble and worked perfectly. You must read the instructions, however. The drive will not spin up unless the USB3 cable is connected to a computer. Communications are fast, with the USB3 interface.

I removed two SATA 1TB drives from an old, now unsupported NAS 2TB storage unit (Seagate, I think). This Sabrent USB hard drive allowed me to use one of the drives as an external storage drive to back up files. I had to reconfigure the SATA drive which had been used in the NAS unit so that it was formatted as a normal external drive, but that only took a couple of minutes to follow the instructions that came with the Sabrent enclosure.

A bit disappointed with this item. I have several SAVRENT devices and rate the all "5." One of the attractions of this unit was the metal case. However, the exposed edges of the case were very rough and sharp. I had to take a file to them in order to use the device safely. Not a big deal but definitely not the level of QA that I expect from SABRENT.

Mi experiencia de uso He instalado un disco duro en esta carcasa de Sabrent y el resultado es excelente. Lo primero que destacaría es que está fabricada en aluminio, lo cual no es solo por estética; se nota que ayuda a transmitir y disipar mucho mejor el calor del disco cuando llevas un rato transfiriendo archivos grandes. La instalación es muy cómoda. El disco encaja perfectamente sin necesidad de herramientas, aunque el paquete incluye un kit de fijación por si quieres dejar el disco totalmente inmóvil dentro, lo cual me parece un detalle de calidad. La conexión con el ordenador es inmediata y las velocidades de transferencia son muy buenas, aprovechando bien el puerto USB 3.0. Un punto que agradezco mucho es la función de "auto-sleep". Cuando dejas de usar el disco por un rato, la carcasa entra en modo reposo automáticamente. Esto es genial para no tener el disco girando y desgastándose sin necesidad si te olvidas de desconectarlo. Pros: Cuerpo de aluminio que mantiene el disco fresco. Montaje muy sencillo pero seguro. Función de reposo automático para alargar la vida del disco. Buena velocidad de transferencia. Contras: El cable que incluye es algo rígido, lo que puede hacer que la carcasa se mueva un poco en el escritorio si no tienes mucho espacio. Veredicto: Una compra totalmente recomendada si buscas una carcasa resistente y fiable. Por el precio que tiene, la calidad del aluminio y el buen funcionamiento de la conexión la hacen destacar sobre las de plástico barato.

Agréablement surpris par la qualité de l'article. Ayant tester plusieurs boitiers hhd externe, celui-ci est vraiment de qualité supérieure et est très bien conçu. Possibilité de visser son disque dur au boitier et bien sûr le bouton de fermeture du boitier qui a fait que j'ai acheté cet article. Chargeur de qualité, idem pour les cables, support plastique dans un boitier aluminium (excellent contre l'électricté statique et le refroidissement). Reçu 2 jours après ma commande. Das Produkt ist sehr leicht und lässt sich gut transportieren. Die neue 22 TB WD Red Pro Sata Festplatte brauchte nur initialisiert werden und war dann sofort einsatzbereit. Die Daten wurden mit einer Durchschnittsgeschwindigkeit von 100 MB/s geschrieben, zu hören war dabei gar nichts, absolut laufruhig und leise. Das Gehäuse macht einen guten Eindruck, die Festplatte passt haargenau hinein und hat null Spiel. Ich habe 3 TB über Nacht übertragen, dürfte um die 8 Stunden gedauert haben. Zur Haltbarkeit kann ich noch nichts sagen, es war der erste Einsatz. Klare Kaufempfehlung und 5 Sterne.

Getwijfeld tussen deze en de Ugreen die wat goedkoper is en technisch even goed maar in plastic. Uiteindelijk toch voor deze Sabrent gegaan voor zijn aluminium behuizing. Geen spijt van, de aluminium behuizing ziet er zeer mooi uit. (Ook beter voor de warmte afgifte van de HDD denk ik) De 3.5 inch HDD werd direct herkend in Windows11 en de snelheid, zowel lezen als schrijven, is goed. Het opstarten van de schijf duurt even als je de schakelaar aanzet. Als de schijf actief is knippert de led wit, in rust brandt de led continu blauw en als je de schijf "uitwerpt" in Windows gaat hij uit. De schijf luistert dus naar het energie beheer van Windows11. Goed verpakt in transport veilige doos. Schroefjes voor het eenvoudig monteren van een 3.5" en voor een 2.5" HDD/SSD evenals een USB3 kabel en 12V adapter meegeleverd, je kan dus direct aan de slag.
