Emma Basic - 100% Pure Toasted Sesame Oil - 500ml - Rich Flavour - Antioxidants

We usually buy Emma Basic Toasted Sesame Oil from Sainsbury’s, but recently, it’s been impossible to find. Like so many other products these days, it seems to have vanished from supermarket shelves. The constant shortages we see in stores are frustrating, and they’re a clear consequence of the supply chain issues caused by unwise Lockdown policies and the ongoing impact of high inflation. Thankfully, this product was available online, and I’m pleased to say it’s every bit as good as we remember. The sesame oil is rich and fragrant, adding a wonderful depth of flavour to dishes. It’s perfect for stir-fries, dressings, or even just drizzling over vegetables. The quality is consistently high, and the 500ml bottle lasts a good while. While I would prefer to pick this up locally, I’m relieved to have found it here. It’s a reliable, high-quality product that delivers on flavour every time. With the current state of supermarkets, it’s good to know there are dependable options like this available online. Highly recommended.

This is an extremely good oil. A wonderful flavour which adds depth to cooking. Also in the 2Lt size this is brilliant value. My only concern is that although this product is promoted as environmentally friendly it wasn’t clear if it is organic or if chemicals are used in its base growth. Is the earth where the plants are grown tested for purity? Or is this a single source product from one farm / location only? I’d like to know more but otherwise I have no concerns and highly recommend this oil.

This is top-notch sesame oil from Emma Basic. I've used it on rice, noodles, home made pea and ham soup (just add a drizzle of this before serving - it lifts a simple pea soup to Michelin Star levels), in salad dressings, fu yung, and far more than I can recall. The aroma you get when you just open the bottle is inspiring. Pour it onto warm food and you're in heaven. Make sure to only use toasted sesame oil as a drizzle or finish, not for long cooking. Its not intended to be cooked with... it's already cooked! Using it to fry with will scorch it and spoil the flavour. That's what plain (not toasted) sesame oil is for. You need a bottle of that too.

Hello I'm actually writing this review 6 months after I purchased it. It was £17 in March this year and £68 now. Whats going on? Its nice tasty seasame oil but not gonna purchase again with this price.

I almost didn’t buy this as I thought the reviews were not all positive but now I’m learning many don’t know what they’re buying or have different taste preferences to what the product is/provides so sometimes you have to try and find out for yourself.. this is a great oil! Both added to flavour dishes after cooking and mixed with a carrier oil for cooking/frying. This is every bit as good as the one I used to buy from the asian food market, it’s a great, slightly bitter sesame oil (better health benefits as the body needs bitters) for the price, I’m going to stick with it as I adore it. It’s been great in salads, fried rice, stir fry’s and I used it in a chicken marinade.. yum!!! I love a happy new find!

Comes in a huge bottle, obviously because there's a lot of it, but that's the point as this is my go to oil, from frying to salad dressing and stir frying to saute, not needing anything else because of it's versatility and it tastes just right, not to oppressive and not watery or underwhelming. Worth the price easily and for me and the diet I choose to have, just perfect.

Muy aromático, le puedes dar un toque distinto a tus platos. Actualizo mi opinión ya que la he vuelto a pedir. En medio tuve que pedir de otra porque esta estaba agotada y con la comparación tadavía me gusta más esta ¡Muchísimo más aromática!

Che dire? Solitamente prendo olio di sesamo da vari negozi orientali online, per questo non avevo aspettative molto alte per un prodotto così poco costoso ... Mi sono ricreduta! il sapore del sesamo tostato è profondo e arricchisce ogni piatto in cui lo aggiungo! lo consiglio per le verdure, un abbinamento perfetto :) Il rapporto qualità prezzo è incredibile! Per quanto riguarda la bottiglia: è capiente, l'unica pecca che posso dire è che il dosatore non funziona così bene: per mettere un filo d'olio negli alimenti , gocciola giù per il beccuccio e successivamente la bottiglia, allo stesso tempo versarlo in modo più deciso mi fa rischiare di allagare il piatto d'olio. Lo ricomprerò :)
