Delicious jam bursting with the true, natural flavor of wild huckleberries (no chemical additives!)
We were introduced to this wonderful jam back in 2001, when we stayed at the Jenny Lake Lodge in Wyoming’s beautiful Grand Teton National Park. Huckleberries - which grow wild throughout the Pacific Northwest, are related to blueberries. While the flavors of the berries are similar, huckleberries tend to be more tart, and unlike blueberries, they resist domestication, making them harder to harvest since they need to be collected in the wild. The berries range in color from red to dark purple, blue, and sometimes even black, with the red berries being the most tart, and the purple, blue, and black hued berries on the sweeter end. Huckleberry bushes are plentiful throughout the Tetons, and we’d always come across large patches during hikes and trail rides. Huckleberries are a favorite food of grizzlies however, so we were always careful to keep an eye out for bears when passing through swathes of the bushes. We visited the lodge for one week each spring until our son was born, every time returning home to New England with jars of this jam. Our child is now 14 years old, and we look forward to showing him the splendors of the American west. Sadly, our stock of huckleberry jam ran out years ago, and we were unable to find this Oregon-made product in any east coast stores. I was thrilled to see that Amazon now carries it, and immediately purchased more. It’s as good as we remember - sweet, slightly tart, and bursting with the wonderful flavor of wild huckleberries. If you haven’t tasted huckleberries, you’re missing out. I highly recommend this jam as a fantastic alternative to the more commonly available flavors of strawberry, grape, and blueberry.I purchased this jam at full price, and have not been compensated (or offered future discounts) for my review.

Almost perfect
I've tried 5 other brands of Huckleberry Preserves/Jam over the last year. This is good jam. It's not my favorite, though. This is full of whole and mashed berries. It is a good, thick consistency. I think the flavor is very good. It could be just a bit sweeter for my tastes, but it's close to perfect. The packaging and shipping is also good.Where it lost a 1-star rating point is in value. The jar is a little too small to be considered a good value at this price. There is another product that I think tastes a little better and is a better value. That's the one I will be re-ordering in the future.I think this does taste really good. I prefer it on toast or toasted English muffins. The warmth from the toasted bread thins this product slightly and yields the perfect consistency for spreading and eating. It may possible be good in baked deserts due to the thickness.

Love Huckleberries
Since I live in California, I don't find huckleberries anywhere. I used to live in Idaho, and would go huckleberry picking and make my own Jam and pie. This Jam is so good I'm so happy I purchased it. Huckleberries are small and they take a long time to get enough in your bucket because you're usually eating too and putting one in the bucket haha. I had it this morning on my toast for breakfast and I was very surprised at how good it was and they are whole huckleberries not smashed
