Doc Miller Thigh High Compression Socks 20-30mmHg

I have gone through knee length compression stockings, both open toe and closed, and neither achieved what I needed. I now wear open-toe, thigh-length, and they perform all day without wrinkling or falling down. One or two reviewers mentioned the stockings bunched up (which is bad), or had rubbery dots at the top and wouldn't stay up. First, know (or remember) that compression stockings need to be evenly spread over their entire length. If they are stretched too far at one end, then the other end is liable to bunch, and pain can be expected. Typically, over-stretching happens at the foot. My rule of thumb is, if you can see through the stocking, it's over-stretched. Use your palms to pull down material from above, and thereby even out distribution. My experience is that usually results in a more relaxed sensation along the leg, which I suppose can be misleading: It doesn't feel tight enough to be compressing properly. Well, it is tight enough and you're getting your 20-30 mmHg or whatever. The rubbery buttons at the top of the stocking are gripping buttons, and should be against your leg, not on the other side. If they're not against your leg, you've got them on inside-out. My stockings have never slipped from above my knee.

I wear these for vein disease, and these are the best of the four brands I've tried so far. And that includes the $200 pair purchased through insurance. The socks feel thicker so they're less likely to run, and I wear them under regular cotton socks and have no problem fitting them into my shoes. I live in the desert and also have not noticed any difference in heat retention between these and other sheer brands. The open-toe design also means I get a a few extra wears out of 'em between washes because my "oversock" absorbs most perspiration. They also stay up and in place quite well, even after repeated washings. As for cleaning, they seem to do quite well in the gentle cycle of our washer and left to air dry. And as a guy, if someone were to somehow get a peek of my "undersocks," I'd rather them see a black garment than think I'm an incognito Rockette.

Update after 2 months: I have since tried several other brands. All were essentially nylons with “compression” added on for marketing. No actual compression. So I returned to using these Doc Millers, except inside out because of the dots issue in the original review below. Out of necessity I ordered four more pairs since the compression is real. To my pleasant surprise I have been able to wear all of the new ones without issue. No red dot swellings at all. I cannot explain this, perhaps my original two were a bad batch. One additional update: hand wash or machine wash cold and air dry. I made the mistake of putting the originals in the dryer and they lost 50% of their compression strength. Moving from2 star to 4 star, much happier now. These were so close to being perfect: great fit, good quality, robust, and they even fit my 35” inseam legs. But the dots they use to secure the legging on the thigh to prevent sliding down (quite effectively) make these unwearable. As other reviewers have pictured, the “red dots” left behind on your thigh are real, and they take 3 days to go away from one wearing. Furthermore, they are not just unsightly: they are very rash-like. They itch and redden the area around them I had initially dismissed these reviews as I felt they perhaps did not wash these before wearing and were experiencing hove reactions. Not true - even after washing these were a major issue. I have resorted to using a separate thigh sleeve in conjunction with these, which was exactly what I was trying to stop having to do when I ordered these. Disappointing.

The Doc Miller compression socks provide the needed compression while my legs feel stronger and more flexible. They are quite durable. Have detached them and put them on quickly without a tear. Some of lesser quality with have a run in them when taking them off. They stay in place correctly.

I purchased a couple pairs of these thigh-high compression stockings to try. I have multiple health conditions and have wore compression socks that reach the knee. However, I was wanting to try a sock that went higher. Based off of the reviews I thought this company would be great. The first couple of pairs I got were great! They fit well, they provided the correct amount of compression, and they didn't cover my toes! After a couple of weeks of using these stockings and washing them I decided to order two more pairs. I was so excited to have so many stockings to wear as I could wear a new pair everyday between washings. However, it has been less than a month and one of the original pairs has lost the elasticity on the top of the stocking so it falls down on the leg and bunches up. I had this first happen when at work when I was unable to do anything about it so it got very uncomfortable. I am super bummed that these stockings haven't lasted even a month without having an issue as I have had other brands of compression socks last for years with proper care. The stockings are great to have and use. Just beware that the elasticity on the top to hold them up doesn't last more than a month with proper care and half a dozen times wearing them. I'll continue to use them for as long as I can but I won't be purchasing these again.

Got these for a total hip replacement surgery. They are not only functional but cute. They stay in place all day and fit great per the sizing chart.

True to size, but they slip down throughout the day. I do not recommend these if you’re going to be on your feet all day. They do not provide consistent support. And if you’re wearing them post-surgery, as I did, you do not want to be tugging them up all day on top of healing wounds.

These are great. My husband broke his leg, and has been using these as compression socks in his recovery. We bought two different brands at first, and this was the better brand of the two. Most importantly, they stay up. So he bought more of this brand.
