Horizon Zero Dawn The Board Game: Core Game

We got this for our 11 year old daughter who, like me is a big Horizon fan.This is also the first board game I’ve played which isn’t monopoly or scrabble and I am really impressed.The quality of the pieces is superb. Even the card parts are really thick and solid.The bits of back story in the manual are great and the way it is similar to the video game really adds to it. Kiddo loves it too.I enjoyed that we could play coop instead of competitive.We had to watch a how to play YouTube video as it was confusing and didn’t actually tell you how to setup. A walkthrough in the same way the Pokémon battle stadium pack works would have been great.Highly recommended. Now looking at an expansion.

Great Game, Rules not too bad to learn and the turns flow well when everyone knows how it all worksGood feeling of hunting in the game and feels like an extension of the video game.Models are great and can't wait to get expansions for it

Full disclosure, I bought this for the miniatures so I can't speak of the game itself. But the miniatures left me disappointed. The edges aren't crisp, they make me think of soft cheese. And I've had minis comparable in size and detail that looked much better.Another thing is the art on the cards, looks mediocre at best and most of the issues are with anatomy or plasticky looking rendering of the characters. Not a fan. I was going to back the second edition of the board game (Forbidden West) but after seeing these in person I decided not to.

My wife and I are casual board gamers, but after I saw this I just had to buy it given how much I loved the PlayStation game.At first we were baffled, confused and didn’t know where to start having never played a game of such depth, but after using the relatively uninformative guide, we watched a few YouTube videos and on we went.The first play though was long and clunky, which left us feeling a little underwhelmed as just seemed too hard to grasp. But once we got it, it all fell into place and have now been playing pretty much non stop. Because we enjoyed it so much we have brought two of the expansion packs for replayability value.The value is worth the money, and if you enjoy the PS game is an extension of this to keep you interested, and even if you aren’t, it still plays very well, and expertly thought out, designed and packaged well to create a complete and high quality product.Would definitely recommend

VERY complicated to first understand the gameplay, you aren't going to spend 2-4 hours its more going to be 6-8 hours to get through your first playthrough. take your time it gets easier to understand

Very disappointed to open this and find the larger models (shell-walkers, sawtooth) with bits snapped off. If you are just getting this for the models, to paint etc, be wary.

Game came in perfect condition, is a great co op game for people who enjoy a complex game - takes a while to play but fun!!
