The plants like some songs
I bought it on Kindle on a win so my plants could listen to it, it's not as good as I expected.

Another fine recording from this world music label - concentrating on Haiti, Cuba and the Bahamas
This newest compilation from the "world music" Putumayo label is another fine example of how they are introducing American CD buyers to music of other cultures or even lesser-known artists from other genres of American music. (I really love their Jazz and Rhythm & Blues compilations and the wide range of music on their "Playground" series for children induces me to give those CDs as presents to children of friends. This time out the theme is Afro-Caribbean with recordings made between 2004 and 2011 for small independent record labels. A few were recorded in other countries - one in New York and another in Switzerland. The musical styles are from Cuba, Haiti, Martinique and the Bahamas. One artist - Michael Blaise (who has the longest track - at 5 ½ minutes - on the 38-minute album, is also a well-known boxer in Haiti. As with other CDs in this series, there is a16-page booklet bound inside the front cover with info on each artist and a little about the song they are preforming. There are no full English translations. And as a "bonus" - prominently mentioned on the back cover - there is a recipe for Caribbean Punch. Obviously this is not part of the "kids' series".I like the fact that the album introduced me to artists I might not have heard otherwise, but it's not my favorite Putumayo release - hence the four stars ("I Like It") as compared to five stars ("I Love it"). It also seems that the label - still active in promoting "world music" and causes - has cut back contributing financially to causes. They used to donate a portion of each album sale to a charity. I see that periodically but no mention is made on this release. If you know the Putumayo line of CDs, you have an idea of what to expect - high quality recordings by artists and music styles new to you. This one is no different. And - if you want to liven up a summer party - put this in your player and I'm sure your guests will say "That's neat music. Who are the performers and where'd you get it?".I hope this review is both informative and helpful.Steve Ramm"Anything Phonographic"
