It's well made but,there are no markings on blade,so I don't think it's stainless steel.

Can anyone recommend a better shealth?

Did you receive yours yet? If not, hang on till then and make sure it's really needed. I was going to do the same but just stuck with the one they sent when it arrived and saw it was pretty good afterall.
