Nice kit.

I got this one because it came with several needles and it worked great for sewing in a canvas patch to the vinyl window in my pop-up camper! I was a bit disappointed when I received the item. The grip part is made out of 3 thin tubes that fit into each other and get held in place once you screw the whole thing together. But despite the separate pieces , it was sturdy enough once assembled. It took me quite some time to figure out how to do the stiching, but once I realized you had to keep the needle and thread in the same position, I learned which way to thread in the backside so the stich stays in instead of pulling out. I never had a problem with the sticher and it worked great once I got the hang of it. It was always solid and sturdy once assembled.

I've never used one of these before, but a youtube video later and I've fixed a couple of items that saved much more than this cost. It is pretty easy once you get the hang of it. I can't imagine that I'll ever use a different needle (as a newby the eyelet needle seems like the obvious choice), but as much trouble as it was getting the first needle in place ... I imagine it would be difficult to swap them. I think I would end up using vise grips to help pull it out.

Is a acceptable product but got a imperfections

Haven't used yet but checked them out - needles are sharp, unit seems strong with no "wobble" when the needles are installed, thread is very thick, strong though not the color I will be using in the project I am doing, and the amount of needles include everything most will ever need. Cons - I thought there would be storage for the needles inside the unit; I guess I saw it on another unit and just overlaid that thought. Not a big deal - they include a small plastic holder that will work.

This is not going to work for any real leather work or things such as "boot" repair. The needles are huge diameter, the brass is about as 3 inches long and tiny in girth so you can not hold it much better than using a simple thimble on your finger to sew with. I would recommend you pass on this one, wasting my money bothered me enough to write this review.
